Zeynep Kaçar. Born in 1972, Kaçar received a degree in acting from MSM (Müjdat Gezen Centre of Arts) in 1995 and a degree in dramaturgy and criticism from Istanbul University in 1999. In 2000 she co-founded Theatre Painted Bird where she worked as an actor, director and playwright. Zeynep’s plays have been produced by the Theatre Painted Bird, The State Theatre, Bab-ı Theatre and various companies. Her plays have been published by Mitos Boyut Publishing Company. She performed on stage at the Manchester Rocian Theatre in 2005/2006. In 2005, she was invited by Darpana Academy to observe the dance theatre in India and to participate in a special workshop organized by Magdalena Project and Peter Brook. She founded Bab-ı Theatre in 2008. In 2010, she received a playwriting award from Ankara Art Foundation for her play Crème Caramel that was performed at the State Theatre of Ankara in 2009/2013. Last Exit from the Bridge was produced by International Culture Lab in collaboration with Cornell University in Ithaca, New York under the name S/HE in 2011. For the play Medine, she received a playwriting award form the Language Association given in honour of Kerim Afşar in 2011. She attended WPIC in Sweden in August 2012 with Medine, which was also staged in Taiwan in September 2013. Her novel The Shell was published by Sel Publishing in 2017. The same year, her play Full Stomach was chosen as the text of the year by Ekin Friends of Literature. Her second novel The Lonely was published by Dogan Kitap Publising in 2021.
