It’s a small legend that in the 90s, Gordon founded the fashion brand X-Girl with her friend Daisy von Furth, and held a catwalk on the NY sidewalk, minutes away from where her friend Marc Jacobs was having a show. Chloë Sevigny closed as the bride – turning the couture tradition on its skateboard – and Sofia Coppola helped with the staging. Gordon became, and remains, a fashion icon because she brings all the brilliant qualities about her to clothes. When she wears something, it’s like she’s recharging it somehow.

Lily McMenamy is a supernova. Her dazzling charm and powerful presence have captivated fashion nerds of all stripes, but beyond the ferocious turns on catwalks, campaigns, canvases, films and magazine covers, the dynamic London beauty has been quietly cultivating a breathtaking performance practice all of her own. Studying Bouffon and mime at L’École Jacques Lecoq, as well as performance and acting at Goldsmiths and the London Meisner Company, McMenamy’s breakout work is the 45-minute one-woman spectacular, A Hole is A Hole. Impish wit and disarming vulnerability are centre-stage in this psychedelic Odyssey of the heart, mind, body and soul which sends up personal reflections and experienc- es in the guise of sassy genies, Milanese angels, teutonic fashion photographers and even a haunted forest of ex-boyfriends. The show swept through London, Paris and Los Angeles to sold-out performances and delighted audiences at Bourse de Commerce, New Theatre Hollywood and London Performance Studios, before Lily sat down with good friends Alexandra Gordienko and Ella Plevin to discuss life under the bright lights.

EP: What was your dream for A Hole is a Hole?

LM: I wanted to create a world in and of itself. An everything smoothie.

AG: You often mention this feeling you have when you come off stage. Is that your favourite moment of the creative process?

LM: It’s fun before too, I have this meditation and some music I get all hyped up to. Also the initial scratching; re- search, conglomerating and improvising. You can really feel like you’re wafting through the ocean though, so it’s cool when it starts feeling constructed, refined. But it’s always a work in progress!

When speaking about theatre, Redmayne carries a reverence that is tangible and profound (“It’s the reason I got into doing what I do.”). Early in his career, he performed at The Old Vic, the Royal
Court, the Almeida, the Everyman, the Globe, as well as the Donmar. As a very certain kind of Oscar and Tony-winning Hollywood actor, he is driven by and remains close to the craft. You could say in the manner of a young Ian McKellen: they have both played Richard II. The week before we speak, Redmayne finished an eight month shoot in Hungary for the Day of the Jackal. I wonder how he’ll look after himself for the next six-months as the Emcee in New York.

“Having something lay for a couple of years before returning to it… It’s a weird mixture of hoping that the character has been sat there, ruminating, but there’s extraordinary excitement to start afresh and re-approach when some of the groundwork has been established.” Eddie Redmayne is talking Cabaret, and specifically its new context. After his wildly successful run in London during a bizarre time (2021–22, the slipstream of the Covid era), the show is set to open the Kit Kat Club on Broadway this April, at the August Wilson Theatre. Unnerving and physical, with the actor really harnessing his body, Redmayne’s West End portrayal of the Emcee wowed audiences and critics, landing him an Olivier for Best Actor in a Musical. Text by

Whilst, the Beatles may have drummed, strung and even blown their way to international superstardom, Yoko Ono was fine-tuning instruments of her own, albeit ones which played to the beat of the fluxus art movement, orchestrated by George Maciunas, and were realised through performances that encouraged observers to do everything and anything by the multi-disciplinarian who once sung “instead of giving what the audience chooses to give, the artist gives what the audiences chooses to take”; whether that meant joining her, alongside her husband in their honeymoon ‘bed in,’ (1969) later trumpeted as an act of advocacy for an end to conflict, or cutting strips out of a long-sleeved black suit as she sat passively on stage, which turned out to be an exploration of “how viewing without responsibility has the potential to harm or even destroy perception.”

Michele Lamy: We are helpless with the tragedies that are happening in the world right now. Can making clothes help us find a way to peace?

Guram Gvasalia: Being a good person is the first step. Us, humans, often think that one person can only do so much by themselves. However, if each person were to try and be the best they are, the whole world would be a better, safer place.

Over the decade that has seen the 27-year-old Atlanta-born polymathic artist and entrepreneur’s meteoric ascent to hip-hop’s Olympian heights - a trajectory propelled by figures including ASAP Rocky, Travis Scott and Kanye West - the impression he’s made on the fashion world has been as proportionally significant as on the world of music…

As he himself has previously stated, “I just want to show.” This year, he’ll be doing exactly that, kicking off a European and North American arena tour in November – his first since 2021. Marking the welcome end of a relative drought of appearances – particularly on our side of the pond – the Antagonist tour will also mark the first time he spotlights O***m, the record label he founded in 2019, on such a global stage, with three of its signees – Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely and Homixide Gang – figuring as the tour’s support.

Since her turn as the titular ingenue femme fatale in Jean-Jacques Beineix’s Betty Blue (1986), Béatrice Dalle has earned a reputation as one of French cinema’s most arresting stars; an irreverent tour de force of danger, grit, seduction and unworldly beauty, branded into the minds of cinephiles the world over...
Bound by a shared penchant for extremity, it makes sense that, when Dalle and Noé first met on the set of a magazine shoot – she, naturally, was the star; he showed up since his friend was behind the camera, and ended up conducting the interview for the accompanying feature – the pair quickly hit it off. It wasn’t until 2019, though, that the pair first worked together formally, with Dalle picked to star alongside Charlotte Gainsbourg in Lux Æterna, a masterful feat of meta-cinema that revolves around the production of a film dealing with the history of witch trials, produced by the fashion house with which both maintain a close creative relationship: Saint Laurent .. The acclaimed costume designer of Caravaggio, Orlando, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Favourite has given over 50 movies their style – and won Oscars for her work on Shakespeare in Love, The Aviator, and The Young Victoria. Here in conversation with Re-Edition.
Because of your Derek Jarman years, working with Tilda Swinton on Orlando must have been a great moment?
"Orlando was a turning point in my career, because it was a low-budget arthouse film that was then recognised on a larger scale. Myself and the production designers were nominated so we all got to go to the Oscars. It was 30 years ago now”
“I remember Caravaggio really intimately and I made a lot of friends. It was Tilda’s first film as well [Tilda Swinton]. I thought, ‘Wow, this is great, I want to do this for the rest of my life.’ And I am doing it for the rest of my life but no film has ever been the same.” Words by

UP NEXT WITH WOZ
Up Next – Re-Edition’s music column – where arts and culture writer Gilda Bruno sits down with some of the most inspiring names on the up-and-coming and established music scene to delve into the inspirations, sounds and dreams of a new avant-garde of musical talents.
Today Bruno speaks with New York-based alternative music artist Woz to learn more about the story behind his haunting, melancholic debut EP, At the Gulf, and explore what is next for him in 2023. Head to our website to read the full story on

THE RISING ALT MUSIC ARTIST TALKS FAMILY TRAUMA, MENTAL HEALTH AND THE MAKING OF HIS DEBUT EP, ‘AT THE GULF’, FOR RE-EDITION’S NEW MUSIC COLUMN

‍Dylan “Woz” Wozniak is a young singer-songwriter and guitarist juggling between music rehearsals and graveyard shifts at the Long Island’s Gulf oil station where he works “to make ends meet”. The son of John Wozniak, the lead singer of ‘90s rock band Marcy Playground, Woz’s relationship with music is one that is hard to put into words; yet, if you allow yourself to indulge in the catching riffs of his tracks, which are paired with compelling lyrics and visualised in nostalgia-fuelled DIY, lo-fi videoclips, getting to the bottom of his production shouldn’t be too hard.

Up Next”

our new music column - for the debut edition - contributing writer Gilda Bruno sits down with Australian indie folk singer-songwriter Indigo Sparke to hear about her journey into music-making and capture the multiplicity of feelings, experiences and influences channelled in Hysteria, her newest album. Head to our website to read the full story on

https://www.reeditionmagazine.com/up-next-with/up-next-with-indigo-sparke

RE: Your new, 14-track album, Hysteria, came out last October 7. How would you describe this project to those who haven’t listened to it yet?
IS: "I have been thinking a lot about time lately and I have recently come to the conclusion that time isn’t linear, and that my life spirals and circulates, in some way. So I guess I would describe the record as a non-linear breath of spiralling history, a breath that allows me to reconcile with the human condition and what it means to be a woman. Hysteria is all that. It is a brazen step into feeling deeply. The motivation to go deeper within stemmed from the COVID period, which was the basis for “charting my own internal waters”... read the full interview on our website.
