Due to my investments in Thrustmaster I've decided to stay with them and have upgraded my servo to the TSXW model, I know its not direct drive yet but thrustmaster are making claims that even their new DD servo when it's eventually released will be part of the infamous "eco system" so my peripheral investments are safe ( I hope when I do finally make that dd transition), I like fanatec and may well do the switch to them eventually however I'm going to give Thrustmaster the benefit of the doubt for now.

I am hoping to get back into rally preferably WRC10 however I am also keen to do some Dirt 2.0, if anyone is interested let me know and we can do ghost times and create a leader board or maybe do some events online maybe even some super stage stuff.

RIP Sir Frank Williams, total legend!

Sir Frank Williams founded one of F1's most successful teams and continued to run it long after the crash which confined him to a wheelchair.

First impressions of WRC10...

Wrc9 was a massive change to the rally game and somehow they got it right, the graphics were great car models were good although Dirt Rally still looks prettier, however WRC10 doesn't change much in the way of this, and it looks very similar to wrc9...The cars are exactly the same but they did make the stages look a bit better and the car interiors aren't as dark as previous versions of the game. Where WRC10 shines is that handling model they know its tried and tested and for want of a better phrase "if it isn't broke don't fix it" but they did do something...they cleverly added weight shift and power to weight. What I mean by this is if your going into a bend at 50-60 mph the weight and balance and suspension all factor in making the experience (in my opinion) even better the cars have a heft to them and there's a dramatic difference between FWD/RWD/AWD enough to keep you busy in the tuning department etc, also the cars now unlike in wrc9 seem to drift a bit better over tarmac unlike before the cars seemed glued to the tarmac and for me personally I prefer the drift feel and that weightiness I was telling you about.

The tracks are a constant, and it's nice to see Acropolis in the official wrc game to represent the anniversary mode of the game, there are plenty of old school cars I like the Corolla personally, 16/17 to choose from depending on the version of the game you bought and for the time being the pre-ordered standard edition (my version) has the late Colin McRae 1997 Subaru Impreza but the deluxe version has Tommy Makkinen 1996/7 Mitsubishi Lancer and I believe an additional car which I've yet to discover these cars are not available if you didn't pre order or buy the deluxe but they'll no doubt make an appearance in dlc form somewhere down the line. Both versions of the game have the three new stages in wrc comprising of Estonia, Spain and Croatia and from what I played on them they are a welcome addition throwing in the likes of dirt gravel tarmac between them all.

Another added feature is custom liveries, there are a generous amount of tools images etc to create your own masterpiece livery however it cannot be shared online, (although this isn't something I'm personally interested in) I'm not sure if this is something that will change at a later date or if they can be downloaded or swapped.

All in all it's another solid attempt from Kylotton and Nacon if you liked 9 you'll love 10 but if you own 9 I'd say wait a bit as the bulk of your money is going on the wrc10 anniversary mode and even though it's good fun to rally back in time it's not huge, and your anniversary playtime is more of a scenario affair rather than full rallies, other than the technical aspects of the game this is the only major difference between the two games the career is identical to 9 but in 10 certain events are locked as you need to unlock them in anniversary mode which confuses me because I want to play the modes separately but it looks as though I'll have to play them in unison to open up certain career events later down the line, that to me is bizarre.

Overall I'd give this an 8.5/10
