IN HONOUR OF BROTHER ONIE, SETTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE

The loss of my dear friend, Victor Onie Williams, is a heartbreaking tragedy that has deeply affected me and many others who loved him. While I initially chose to remain silent out of respect during this time of mourning, the spread of false and damaging rumors has made it necessary for me to set the record straight.

Here is a clear account of the events to the best of my knowledge:

1. THE INITIAL CALL:
On the day of the incident, I was not at home. I got to know that the late Victor had passed by to pay me a visit. I wasn't at home as I was away for work. My neighbor called to inform me that Onie, a dear friend, had collapsed outside my house while waiting outside my home. I was shocked and confused, because though he has promised several times to pay a visit, he had not confirmed the time of his visit and thus I was not around when he was said to have come to visit me.

2. MY HOUSE WAS LOCKED, AND I WAS NOT HOME:
At the time of the incident, my house was locked, and I was not hosting any guests. The neighbor explained that Onie appeared to have difficulty breathing before collapsing on the street outside my house.

3. RUSHING TO THE HOSPITAL:
Upon receiving this distressing news, I immediately headed to Rokupa Government Hospital, where I was also told that he was rushed to. When I arrived, I was informed that Onie had been brought in deceased and that his body was already in the mortuary.

4. REQUEST FOR SECOND OPINION:
In disbelief and holding onto hope for a dear brother and friend, I requested that Onie’s body be transferred to another facility for further evaluation. The hospital staff required me to sign a release form, which I did. This is documented in the hospital’s records.

5. CONFIRMATION FROM THE SECOND OPINION:
We proceeded to Lifecare Hospital, where doctors examined Onie and confirmed that he had sadly passed away. It was at this point that the reality of his loss became undeniable.

ADDRESSING FALSE NARRATIVES

To clarify and dispel any misinformation:

• Onie did not confirm a specific time for his visit, and I was not home when he reportedly collapsed.

• I became aware of his presence only after receiving a call from my neighbor.

• My house was locked at the time, and Onie did not enter it at any point.

• I acted swiftly and responsibly upon learning of the situation, doing everything within my power to respond.

Urging Further Investigation

In light of public interest, I fully support the conduct of an autopsy to determine the cause of Onie’s death, and I urge that the findings be made public. I also welcome any thorough investigation into the matter to uncover the truth and ensure clarity for everyone affected. I am committed to cooperating fully with any inquiries to vindicate myself and provide closure to Onie’s family and loved ones.

Onie was a remarkable individual whose loss is deeply felt. During this difficult time, I ask that we focus on honoring his memory with truth, compassion, and unity.

May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
