'Crucially, there are far easier and more successful ways to get into pop these days. Instead of going through 20 weeks of prime-time torture, why not just guest on a Rudimental song (or similar house-pop anonymous producer)? It worked for Sam Smith, John Newman, Jess Glynne and Ella Eyre. Otherwise, you can do what the likes of Jessie J and Birdy did and just post your stuff to YouTube, hoping it’s good enough for someone to notice.'

Go on - be more commercially inventive 'Spotify only pays $0.007 for each track streamed, but this soon starts to look like real money when you consider that 100 streams makes 70 cents. Throw in a modest fanbase and take into account that each track only lasts just over 30 seconds (the minimum required by the service to count as a full stream) and you can begin to see how the band cleverly used the streaming to their advantage.'

The US band asked fans to stream their five-minute album of silence to generate money for a tour . Their scheme seems to have worked

week also saw the launch of the Creative Industries Strategy outlining 'a vision of industry and government working together to develop the UK's creative industries to their full potential to 2020 and beyond'. I AM ME will be working with both to make sure emerging young diverse talent get much needed support. We're here to transform things.

Right - you lot probably missed this. Monday saw the launch of week, the start of an annual celebration of the phenomenon that is the UK’s Creative Industries. Combined, they generate a staggering £8 million per hour for the UK economy. On the back of employment research also published for the week, what's clear is that BAME creatives still aren't getting enough opportunity to contribute (& eat) a piece of that pie.
