A reminder for anyone who wishes to attend the funeral of Vince McCartney.

The funeral service is on Monday 12th February, 12.15pm at the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium (North Chapel), Aldersbrook Rd, London E12 5DQ.

There will be a wake from 2pm-6pm at the River View Chinese Restaurant, 15 New Crane Place, Wapping High Street, E1W 3TU.

We are more than happy to receive flowers, alternatively we would appreciate donations to Shelter in Vince’s name via the link below.

Vincent McCartney 19th August 1949 - 7th January 2024.

It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of Vincent McCartney.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.

The funeral service is on Monday 12th February, 12.15pm at the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium (North Chapel), Aldersbrook Rd, London E12 5DQ.

Well you managed to drag me into the Instagramaverse. For you only, it’s worth it mate.

For your glorious daughters, for your lovely Mum and family and for the disputable reprobates and friends, who will probably get together real or online, I promise to definitely NOT to tell anyone about…..

In 2019 Holborn Studios celebrated its 40th Anniversary. We are so thrilled to finally announce the exhibition is going ahead. The exhibition will be great celebration of Holborn Studios and everyone that has worked with us, at the end of what will have been an incredibly tough time for many of us.
We have the great and good of Holborn’s history confirmed to exhibit with over 250 photographers and 1500 prints.

Hackney Council have called a planning committee meeting this Thursday, 10th March, to determine the future of the Holborn Studios site (49/50 Eagle Wharf Road).

Whilst we are in no immediate danger, and we have the court process to pursue (again) as a worst case scenario, we would very much like to get the application rejected, so we are able to have this off our backs once and for all.

They called this meeting with a weeks notice, the planning officer has recommended the planning application be approved.

WE WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL ATTENDEES AT THE MEETING.

Points to note from the application are:

The application is a severe downgrade on the previous two applications that were approved, then quashed at the High Court. The previous two High Court losses have cost the council in the region of £200,000.

Whilst 50 market flats are proposed there is no affordable housing in the scheme.

The amount offered to Hackney towards off site affordable housing has decreased from £757,076 to only £177,000.

The scheme offers less employment space than required by the Council’s policy. Only 11% would be low cost, compared to 100% now. It would not be suitable for a studio

There is a huge loss of Cultural value to the borough, with Holborn Studios being a photographic studio of worldwide renown.

Studio 4 is a drive-in studio, ideal for car shoots or large set builds, as well as larger fashion shoots and filming. The studio has a ceiling grid for rigging lights or props to. ‘Starry Nights’

A polaroid of Kara Young, photographed for the December 1988 issue of British Vogue.

The polaroids in the archive, produced speedily as reference shots to look at on set, haven’t always aged too well. Some have discolouration from the swift processing, or damage from quick handling, or the surface has begun to degrade and come away from the supporting material underneath, but they do have a particular, fragile beauty as a result.

Hackney Council planning department are at it again!

They are once again considering a planning application for Holborn Studios site at 49-50 Eagle Wharf Road. This application has many issues, the most obvious being that the council are using a previously quashed application number and have lost all historical files/comments relating to this number.

We would really appreciate your support in this matter and have made a handy form that can be used to object to the application. The form will send your objection directly to Hackney Council. It will take less than a minute to add your objection.
