BBCs Ordeal by Innocence is back on our screens this week. Here’s some breakdowns from the show. We delivered the shots for Christmas and then had to do a lead-actor replacement - 30 scenes and over 1,000 shots had to be reshot in just a couple of months with the cast often in different locations for the reshoot.

We Hunt Together // Our aim is always to create as much in-camera as possible for the most realistic effects. In this gruesome sequence, we custom-made a prosthetic neck to fit the wooden spike and used plates of a supporting actor for realistic movement, applying cuts and scars digitally in post. Our new showreel is live! Levitation, fire, rolling seas and insects escaping from human bodies. It's all there.

We're a team of problem-solvers with a creative core; image-smiths and makers we're always experimenting with the latest kit and exploring new ways to combine our myriad skills spanning both physical and digital effects.

You'll see examples of all of this.
In one of the car scenes, we used interactive LED studio lights to 'playback' a pre-prepared CG environment so that the interactive lighting in the finished shot matched that of the CG background perfectly.

Look out for the Poldark crowd scene, which was created by procedurally generating 20,000 crowd 'sprites' which then had textures wrapped around them from the real-life extras captured on the shoot. By using other procedural techniques, we even varied the colour of their hats, trousers and tops to stop one 'sprite' looking the same as the other.
