This is a fantastic album from the incomparable Ian Shaw, one of the UK's finest Jazz singers. That said, it's not a Jazz album as such, more a collection of great songs delivered with verve, soul and Ian's wonderful knack for telling a story and bringing you into his world which on this occasion is Soho in the small hours.

On production duties is pianist and keyboard player Jamie Safir, a brilliant and versatile musician with a glittering production career ahead of him.

Great to see this album getting some of the recognition it deserves, from Jazz FM.

Congratulations to Toyah and the team at Cherry Red Records - The re-mastering of "The Changeling" was a mammoth undertaking and it's great to see this release at no5 in RetroPop's Top 10 ReIssues of the year list. "The Changeling" was remastered at our Bristol studio by Nick Watson.

The Changeling was placed fifth best reissue of the year from RetroPop

The Quietus have published their 100 albums of the year list, which includes a couple of great records we had the privilege of guiding into the sonic world. Lisa O'Neill 's superb album All Of This Is Chance gets a worthy mention, and up in the top 10 the eponymously titled debut from Abstract Concrete ; a fantastic sounding record propelled by Charles Hayward 's majestic drumming.

Huge Congratulations to Hack-Poets Guild for their inclusion MOJO's Folk Albums of the year list.

Hack-Poets Guild consists of Lisa Knapp Music, Marry Waterson and Nathaniel Mann - Info Page, all fantastic artists in their own right, and their debut "Blackletter Garland" is no ordinary Folk record, containing a mix of sonically varied and inventive material bound together by the core tenets of oral history and social commentary.

The album is released on One Little Independent Records, was produced by Gerry Diver Music, and mastered at Fluid Mastering by Nick Watson

When the set opens with a track using a printing press for percussion, you know you're in for a treat, and that's precisely what Hack-Poets Guild gave us when we saw them at their Bristol gig on Saturday night. Throughout the two hour show, we were educated with historical back stories to each number, soothed by the warm rich tones of Marry Waterson voice, blown away with the bands beautiful harmonies, and introduced to some of the most creative use of instruments I'd ever seen. Like the H**p cutter, Nathaniel Mann - Info Page used to provide a beat for the number "H**p and Flax". There were the haunting violin strings used during Lisa Knapp Music "The Troubles of This World", and the acoustic presence created in the room when they wondered around the audience with an instrument (whose name I don't recall) creating the sound of birds during "Birds of Harmony". The evening couldn't have been more entertaining, but the band finished off by passing around the lyrics for a song that the audience could sing, which for me was the icing on the cake! I left feeling I'd been part of an incredible night, witnessed a truly great band, and gained an insight into British Folklore. If you get the chance to see these guys, take it!

An interesting duo "Nasty Party" manage to work even though half the band lives in Sydney and the other half in London. Their album was mastered by Tim Debney and the latest single "Monochromatic TV" has just been released.

With their latest single 'Loaded Dice, Nasty Party once again proves that their blend of punk and new wave is as powerful as ever.

Out today, "Blackletter Garland" the debut album from Hack-Poets Guild featuring Lisa Knapp, Marry Waterson & Nathaniel Mann.

This album has gone down a storm with Folk enthusiasts as well as others because of its ability to blend authentic source material from broadside ballads and blending them beautifully with modern melodies and beats.

In case you've not heard any, they've released 4 songs from the album, all with fabulous videos illustrated by the incredibly talented Marry Waterson.

The album was mastered by Nick Watson at Fluid Mastering and is released on One Little Independent Records
