Nicola Bulley was walking her dog along the river in the quiet Lancashire village of St Michael’s on Wyre when she disappeared without a trace.

The question of what happened to her transfixed the nation. The 45-year-old mortgage adviser and mum of two seemed to have no reason to disappear, so where had she gone? Adding to the mystery, her dog was found running loose, and her phone was still connected to a Teams call.

The police suspected she had fallen into the river, but many feared she had been abducted. Over the next three weeks, the search for Nicola snowballed into an unprecedented global media and social media storm. Watch The Search for Nicola Bulley now on BBBCiPlayer.
