We are proud to present 'Earth Songs'; a collaboration with the
Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) to help content creators inspire audiences and reinforce conservation messages through music.

In alignment with Sony's Road To Zero plan, we will donate a share of royalties earned from the album to AWC, Australia’s largest private (non-profit) conservation organisation; with the mission of protecting all Australian animal species and the habitats in which they live.

The 12-track album features songs by famed writer duo Michael Edwards (Game of Thrones, Whale Rider) and Christian Tschuggnall (The Cinematic Orchestra, Ólafur Arnalds), Emmy award-winning producer Sean Carey (Motown Magic, Beat Bugs) and the rising talents of Dominic Cabusi and Bronte O'Neill (or 'Maari'),
who recently scored the Australian fantasy film 'The Legend of The Five’.

'Earth Songs' is available for licensing worldwide: https://www.kpmmusic.com/en/browse/labels/CM/66

Lovely tribute piece in The Guardian for Alan Hawkshaw:

The late musician’s track The Champ was sampled on more than 700 other records, while others pop up everywhere from Jay-Z songs to Milk Tray ads. What links them all is his compositional joy and irreverence

16/10/2021

We are devastated to learn about the passing of Alan Hawkshaw. Amongst many commercial credits, Alan was one of the godfathers of production music, and penned some of the best-loved KPM tracks of all time; including Chicken Man (Grange Hill theme), Countdown, Dave Allen At Large, Beat Me ‘Til I’m Blue and Girl In A Sportscar. Dubbed the ‘Hero of the Hammond’ due to his signature sound, his tracks have also been sampled by a number of commercial artists.

All five members of the KPM All Stars were reunited for a live show at the British Library in October 2018 and we were honoured to witness ‘The Champ’ play some of his best work to an adoring crowd.

Having received a British Empire Medal this year for his contributions to the music industry, Alan’s work will continue to be celebrated and recognised for generations to come.

RIP Alan Hawkshaw.

Posted • “I had been lucky enough to find a few [original KPM records] over the past decade during my digging trips up and down the east coast. But looking at the complete vinyl catalogue was a great privilege. I anxiously began combing through records from morning to night looking for the right sounds. The whole experience was surreal. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t somewhat overwhelming. As a producer looking for textures, inspiration, and grooves, the abundance of those things made it extremely difficult to narrow down what I wanted to use." -

Brilliant piece in The New York Times about Italian library music featuring our Italian label SONOR Music Editions:

Compositions made from the 1960s through the ’80s to soundtrack films and ads have found new homes on hip-hop tracks and compilations. New artists have been inspired, too.

08/06/2021

We’re big fans of the 80s aesthetic in the latest campaign. It just so happens that our *whopper* of a track (GEDDIT?) ‘Winners Ahead’ features in it too. Thanks to the good folks at for the placement

70 Years of Putting Background Music in the Forefront

EMI Production Music – a division of Sony/ATV Music Publishing – is a renowned market leader across the globe and home to prolific music labels KPM Music, Music House, Juice, Ded Good and many more. Our music is specifically created for use in media and, using our rich history and acute expertise, we dedicate ourselves to continually providing fresh and relevant content for our clients worldwide.

EMI Production Music has evolved into one of the world’s most successful library music companies, representing more than 40 labels internationally and delivering successful music creation services for a range of television clients. It all began back in 1780 when Robert Keith set up shop in London's Rathbone Place. By 1830 the business had expanded into music publishing, and by 1959 the new KPM Music Group came to fruition. The company very quickly grew legs and a strong reputation and, by 1960, KPM Music became part of EMI Music Publishing and eventually rebranded itself to EMI Production Music in 2011.

Now with more than 60 years of experience, we’ve remained credible in every decade and have always set the benchmark for others to follow. We’re constantly evolving and our catalogue of more than 125,000 titles crosses every musical genre imaginable: from large-scale orchestral recordings and archive recordings spanning the 20th century to underground dance and cutting-edge indie. On top of this, our music is affordable and extremely easy to use. Both master and synchronization rights can be immediately cleared for worldwide use in one step. Users can test a wide range of music against their productions prior to making any payments, and fees are only due when the production is exhibited, broadcast or offered for sale.

We pride ourselves on having a huge roster of talented writers, many of whom have written for award-winning film and TV series as well as penning number one hits for the likes of Lana Del Rey and Flo Rida. KPM Music thoroughbreds Alan Hawkshaw and Keith Mansfield gave us some of the best-loved TV theme tunes that are still being sampled to this day. In fact, we’ve been sampled all over the place by the likes of Mark Ronson, Jay-Z and Gnarls Barkley. Our close relationship with Sony/ATV has helped us blur the lines between commercial and production music, giving our clients access to the best new composers in the industry.
