New Wave Magazine caught up with Sainté this summer, talking about everything from basketball to Nando’s, from Leicester to Paris. Sainté flew into the international scene after the success of his single ‘Champagne Shots’, placing him firmly on everyone’s radar. Jorja Smith's 'falling or flying' Encapsulates The Dichotomy Of Life

After breaking her hiatus in 2021 with EP Be Right Back, Smith vowed her return to fans: ‘It was a little waiting room so people knew I was coming back’. Continuing to experiment with her sound and evolution as an artist, the artist takes the opportunity to reflect on the last few years which have involved transitioning into her mid-twenties and stepping into herself as a singer-songwriter.

Opening with the defiant single ‘Try Me’, a song about remaining true to herself despite public perceptions, Jorja explains why it was chosen as the first song on the album: ‘It's kind of ‘BAM’! You know? It whacks you right in the face, it sounds like an entrance.’

Le Chouchou: The Art Of Communication

Martin Parr's remarkable career, spanning over four decades, has earned him acclaim for his signature documentary-style imagery that deftly satirises the tapestry of daily life, all while interjecting a unique touch of humour. Rooted in an anthropological and sociological approach, Parr's work, characterised by its vivid saturation and informal allure, profoundly captured the imagination of Simon Porte Jacquemus from a young age. It serves as both a public and private portal into alternate worlds, vividly marked by a joyful embrace of imperfection and serendipity.

Skepta Pays Tribute To The Iconic Amy Winehouse On‘Can’t Play Myself (A Tribute To Amy)’

Setting the tone on his latest offering, a soulful atmospheric hypnotic cut, ‘Can’t Play Myself (A Tribute To Amy)’, Skepta submerges us into something that can only be described as an spiritual awakening.

The uplifting track samples the late Amy Winehouse’s 2006 single “Tears Dry On Their Own” allowing Amy’s distinctly haunting vocals to speak to a new generation widening her influence, against the thumping base, and electronical synths.

Let The Chaos Ensue… Ken Carson’s ‘A Great Chaos’ Reviewed

Ken Carson couldn’t care less about a music critic. The O***m rapper’s second studio album A Great Chaos is a testament to that. It’s evident from the record's title, as well as its through line of anarchic sonic experimentation, that Carson’s creations are intentionally constructed to be glaringly secular. It’s music to mosh too, with each song positioned as an extension of a belligerent mood, made in order to be amplified in a live setting.

History lives on in Thebe Magugu’s SS24 Collection titled ‘EXOTICS’.

zeroes in on a story from African History that faces the risk of being forgotten, and for his SS24 Collection titled ‘EXOTICS’, he explores cloth through the lens of the life of Sarah Baartman - one of the first women known to be subject to human trafficking in the early 19th Century. It is one of the most distressing stories of the colonial period, and Magugu handles it perfectly through his craftsmanship and eye for design. “For those unfamiliar with the story of Sarah Baartman, she was a girl taken from her indigenous village in the Eastern Cape by two white British men in 1810’, explains Magugu, ‘who took her to London and exploited her to the very end of her life.”

Loyle Carner Returns To The Royal Albert Hall To To Celebrate Love, Forgiveness and Vulnerability

In celebration of his 29th birthday, Loyle Carner returns to the Royal Albert Hall for one night only to celebrate his lauded Mercury Prize-nominated album Hugo. The standing ovation within the first ten minutes of his performance is enough to tell me that this show will be one to remember.

The crowd is both calm and attentive before the South Londoner arrives onstage promptly at 8.30 pm. Decorated by an orchestra including violins, a harp and live backing vocals, Carner (real name Benjamin Coyle-Larner) grasps the attention of his audience, with phones remaining firmly in pockets whilst fans bask in the moment. After performing his song Plastic, my personal favourite from the album, Carner declares: ‘I’m so unbelievably grateful. I can’t express it enough’.

In Harmony With Uniqueness: Understanding Jordan Ward's Very Own Groove [Interview]

FORWARD, ’s latest musical offering, is not only a testament to his evolution as an artist, but also an ode to his family. It’s a beautiful mosaic of lived experiences, emotions and growth, as well as an unwavering commitment to moving forward in both his personal life and musical journey. The album is a masterful blend of soul, R&B, and pop, featuring Jordan's trademark smooth vocals and thought-provoking lyrics. With a sprinkle of Frank Ocean, the melody of SZA and the groove of Mac Miller, each track is a glimpse into his world, sharing moments of vulnerability, joy, and introspection.

Embracing Duality: A.W.A.K.E. Mode's SS24 Collection

In the ever-evolving world of fashion, where innovation and tradition dance in harmonious discord, A.W.A.K.E. Mode continues to captivate us with its recurring theme of duality. With each collection, Natalia Alaverdian, the visionary behind the brand, masterfully blends clashing and complimentary ideas into a symphony of style. For SS24, she delves deeper into the concept of duality, celebrating the essence of modern womanhood while paying homage to inspirational women who have shaped the brand's narrative.

A Fashion Odyssey: Embracing Clean, Modern, and Elegant Design in the Margiela Era

MM6 is characterised by its focus on abstraction and straightforwardness, pushing one concept to its logical extreme to achieve a radical result. The SS24 collection revolves around the theme of the hand, delving into the gestures that define clothing and garments designed for various postures and manual labour.

Elongation and verticality are dominant themes in the collection, seen in the form of very long vests, lengthened tailored jackets, and versatile trousers that can be styled in multiple ways. The designs feature plunging V necklines, sleeveless coats, and sleeveless shirts, all promoting a sense of upward movement. Pockets are strategically placed, often low on both vests and trousers with extended crotches.
