My week in stills….

I’m on the countdown to my Camino Way Walk and so I’ve really been trying to up my walking distance game. I may have slightly overdone it on Monday with the 24km trek around Mersea Island but at least I know I can do it!

The rest of the week has been spent recovering, working (on client interiors projects) and creating some exciting content for . Plus I got to visit utterly gorgeous (if you missed my visit just check out my reel) for a couple of blissful nights (pr stay).

Today I’m off to hang out with Tamara selling our old stock which I’m sure is going to be fun and just like the good old days. If you’re in North London you should come and grab yourself a bargain!

So basically it’s been a pretty eclectic and busy week but whilst I’m tired I’m also happy 😊

Images:
1. The kitchen in the spring sunshine
2. Walking (a long way!) in Mersea
3. Ditto but this time featuring Mr VC

My week in pictures…

If you saw my stories yesterday you’ll know I was really missing my Dad. It was my nieces 18th birthday yesterday and with us getting together as a family I felt his absence just a little bit more acutely; speaking to my sisters it seems they felt it too.

Since he died I’ve had so many lovely, supportive, empathetic and heartfelt messages and so many of them have described how grief comes in waves. I think yesterday was just one of those waves.

Keeping busy (I’ve been painting the garden studio!), yoga, warm baths, cold water swimming and being outside, in the garden with Luther or walking in nature, and cake (🤣) all seem to help. So here’s a round up (details below) of my week which has involved all of those things.

1. The best burnt Spainish cheesecake in town made by my pal . I’ve dubbed it “The Ferdinando” because that was the name I knew her by when we were at school together.
2. The freshly painted garden studio ( Portland stone) featuring my “indestructible” sisal rug!
3. VC joining the painting party
4. Luther chilling under the pergola
5. Dog walking in nature
6. Dog walking in Trent Park
7. cold water swimming
8. Warm baths (and potters board cladding)
9. Gorgeous old herringbone floor at yoga class at the local primary school.

Enjoy your Sunday. We have the rest of “The Ferdinando” to finish tonight with a side order of trashy telly, and I can’t wait! Watch should I be watching? Have you got any recommendations?

My week in pictures….

1. My sons room which really does not look like this currently but at least I have pictures of it to remind me it can.

2. Hanging with my vintage bestie.

3. The healthy chocolate cake that probably would taste a little bit better with an extra hour of maple syrup (if you missed the recipe for this it’s on my last reel)

4. A lucky find on the street corner…,I can feel some up-cycling coming on…I might even try the oven cheaper trick?!

5. Talking of upcycling Tamara and I have one final collab to finish together and it’s a good one. It’s with a brand we’ve worked with before (and love) and hopefully we will be able to show you next week!

6. parliament_hill_lido one of my happy places

7. Dads flat. Thank you for convincing me that sharing my refurb journey of his space isn’t weird.

8. Spider-Man spotted in Muswell Hill! Random but funny 😄

9. Mr VC and me at Tottenham. Another happy place.

10. The ladies loos at a Tottenham. Designer vibes and empty. Winner!

And that’s it. I love seeing the stuff behind the pretty interiors pictures on other peoples accounts but if this isn’t for you let me know. Or if it is then that’s great too 😊

Hi….Trigger warning, long, personal post incoming.

As many of you will know my Dad died recently. He’d been in and out of hospital quite a few times over the last few months and really was not in great shape. I was in Wales when he fell for the final time and whilst my sisters and I were thankfully with him when he passed, it was all pretty traumatic.

My Mum is also unwell and I have two young adults/teenagers at home to care for. Plus I’m a 55 year old woman which means I’m also slap bang in the middle of everything that the menopause has to throw at me!

Working with Tamara has been an absolute joy. But running two businesses (here and on ), flipping between being an antiques dealer and creating content, meeting deadlines, filming, editing, not to mention the decorating, has become too much.

Sometimes difficult life events push you to change things and so we have agreed we both need to simplify things, to find the right balance between life, family and the work that we love.

For Tamara that’s focusing on the essence of why she started an antiques business in 2015 - finding and sharing the joy of the history and the story of objects and her love for eclectic interiors and heritage.

For me, the time has come to say goodbye to the buying and selling of antiques and vintage for now and to focus on creating gorgeous content of my home and my life.

Yes it’s a change but it doesn’t mean that you won’t see us together. There will be guest appearances from Tamara on here (and me on her new/old account ) and of course we’re very lucky to live so close to each other too, so we will still be meeting for coffee, dog walks, chats and copious amounts of advice!

We’ve got a few projects to finish up together and we haven’t quite worked out all the details of how to (in the words of Gwyneth) “consciously uncouple” but we wanted to let you know how we are going to try to manage things going forward.

To everyone who has followed us since we started working together in 2019 - thank you for love and your support. We will still be here just in slightly different ways.

All my love

Still shot Saturday…

Random non-interiors related caption alert…Are you team Barbie or team Oppenheimer? Can you guess which movie Tamara saw last night and which one of the two I’m seeing tomorrow? It’s definitely a cinema weekend…the bloody weather!

This shots were taken a few days ago when we actually had sone sunshine. The high back Iggy chair from (part of a previous collab) will be getting a lot if use this weekend because apart from the cinema trip I’ve got a book club book to finish and it’s a monster! 548 pages (and small text)!

Another late still shot Saturday (because of a lie in!)…and I’m here with some more garden content;sorry not sorry!

I’m not going to lie, getting ready for this photoshoot with for was A LOT of work! But I’m so glad I put the effort in because the garden looked pretty amazing and a couple of weeks on we are still enjoying the fruits of my labour.

I’m other news Tamara got back from her holiday earlier this week and we are gearing up for the pop up taking place at her house (in Muswell Hill North London) next Saturday, 8th July so if you’d like details drop me a DM, we’d love to see you! It even looks like the sun is going to be shinning ☀️

Something slightly different for still shot Saturday (I’ve decided it is a thing!) this week.

Tamara’s currently on a well deserved holiday in Barcelona with her husband Pete and it looks like, from these images, that they are having a fabulous time. To be honest I think she should have been a travel consultant (rather than an antiques dealer) because she’s absolutely brilliant at finding great hotels, booking tours and restaurants and generally smashing an itinerary!

She’s not back for a few days so if you’ve got any Barcelona questions pop them here and I’ll ask her to respond when she gets back. Or alternatively if you’ve got any top tips for her I can pass them on.

Good job the suns shining here and I’m off out for lunch with rewind in town today or I’d be rather jealous! 🤣

Still shot Saturday. Is that a thing? I’ve no idea but thought you might like to see a few from my camera roll this week.

It’s been a busy week on the work front but also personally. My Dad’s in hospital (again) and my sisters family has been directly affected by the tragic events in Nottingham; and to be honest that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Tamara and I consciously try to keep things joyful and fun on here but, like most people, there is a lot going on behind the scenes.

I’m hoping for a restful weekend (the late post is due to a lie in!) but I am going to be revealing a bit more of the epic garden glow tomorrow which is exciting.

Thanks as always for your support and positive comments. It really does make a difference. This app, as frustrating as it can be at times, is, for the two of us at least a place of friendship and love which, when things are tough, really matters.

Sending you hug today if you need it.

Ad. I’m a big believer in small changes that make a big impact and I’ve wanted to do just that to this corner of my living room for quite some time. The addition of my new Iggy high back armchair (a midcentury style beauty that oozes elegance and charm with it’s slender swooping arms and sleek wooden legs) totally transforms this space. Not only is it extremely good looking it frankly couldn’t be more comfortable (read sung and supportive) if it tried!

The beautiful Heathland Weave fabric in Shell, with its lightly textured woven finish, adds a luxurious elegant feel. The high backed Iggy, which comes with a lovely back supporting cushion, coupled with the matching foot stool make this spot not only the perfect nook for reading but also for a Sunday afternoon snooze. What do you think. Is it a winner?

Its been a while since I’ve shared a shot of my bedroom (mainly because it’s been a total mess) but I couldn’t resist giving it a quick tidy and taking a shot of my leopard print dress artfully hung on the wardrobe in the soft morning light. l think it tones beautifully with the (unironed obvs!) linen and throw that is this weeks combo on my bed.

I’m actually planning on wearing said dress today as I’m off to an exciting lunch date in Whitstable. I’ll share my day on stories so if you’re at all interested in where I’m going, who I’ll be meeting and what I’ll be eating keep your eyes peeled 🤣

Btw this is apparently my 1000 post on IG. If I’d been in the least bit organised I’d have arranged a dancing video! Hey ho. Maybe the 1005 instead?

Ad. Marking as an ad because the bed linen was kindly gifted to me and the chandelier and paint are both part of previous collaborations.

I tried to make a reel of these images and ran out of patience (I’m a bit out of practice!) so I hope you’ll forgive another photo dump. The last one I did of Panama City glitched out and posted the same photo multiple times so I’m hoping this one of Merida in Mexico plays ball.

It’s been a bit of a whirl wind tour of the Yucatan region but absolutely we’ve loved it so far. The people are warm, the architecture is incredible and there is a real sense of pride in the local culture. It’s also been hot hot hot! Final stop is Tulum then home at the weekend. I promise I’ll try to bring the sun back with me!

Ad/gifted. I put these pics on my stories a couple of days ago but I love them so much I thought I’d share them here too.

When I received the gorgeous rattan and green hurricane lamp and tray from I knew immediately they would look great in the kitchen. This space is pretty neutral but, as you know, I’m a huge lover of green so I styled them up with a stack of green vintage glasses, some fresh flowers, a green bowl I bought in Morocco a few years ago and my green pan. Just for fun. As you do!

These pieces are from new Florentine collection which is, I have to say, totally fabulous. I’ve actually got my eye on a lovely bedspread and lamp for the bedroom, The business is based in Holt, in Norfolk (which as you know I love!) so the next time I’m up there I’m definitely going to try to visit them in person.

It’s been a weekend of lunches. With my girlfriends yesterday and my sisters and Dad today. Hope the loss of an hour last night hasn’t thrown you too much?!

I’m marking this as an ad because the hurricane lamp and tray were sent to me by however there was no obligation to post.

The sun came out today and life felt just a tiny bit more manageable.

It’s been a really hard winter don’t you think? Maybe it’s all the (bad) news out there. I mean just look what’s hit the headlines in the last few days (the Met Police report, Boris lying to the commons, the governments disgusting approach to immigration) it’s all just a bit depressing.

So thank goodness spring has arrived and with that a bit more energy, hope and positivity!

In personal news I’m on the countdown to seeing my two older children who have been travelling for a few months (one in Central America and the other in New Zealand). We are all meeting up in Costa Rica at the beginning of April and I literally cannot wait.

We booked through and have a really exciting itinerary organised. So if you have been and have any Top Tips for me I’d really love to hear them; it’s going to be a trip of a lifetime!

I’m throwing it back to when at least one of my kids bedrooms was actually looking good, because that certainly isn’t the case right now!

That said if you saw my fireplace stripping stories this week, you will have gathered that I am making a bit of progress in my sons room. The plan is to make his fireplace look as good as the one pictured here; but honestly it’s not been a quick or an easy job. Still I’m consoling myself with the thought that some progress is better than no progress!

I’m get there in the end. What’s that saying? Slow and steady wins the race?!

Still Sunday…

Yet again I find myself with a very long list of things I need to get done today. The first thing is to solve my caste iron fireplace stripping dilemma. I’ve tried a heat gun and some incredibly messy kling strip and now I think it’s going to be a case of getting in there with some wire wool, paint stripper and a lot of elbow grease. If you missed my stories on this DIY odyssey don’t worry it’s all in my highlights under “stripping”.

By the way if you are considering undertaking a similar project I would strongly advise you not too. If you’ve got a reliable builder I would suggest you get them to remove the fireplace and take it to be dipped. A slightly more expensive option no doubt but quicker and a hell of a lot less time consuming, stressful and believe it or not less messy! It’s too late for me of course, I’ll just have to keep going until it’s done.

Other things on the to do list include finishing off a blind for my bedroom and doing my accounts. This years tax return was such a sh show I’ve promised myself I’m going to try to do it a little and often this time.

Basically it’s a case of no rest for the wicked so wish me luck!

Still Sunday….

Morning. Well it appears this little app is all change again. Still posts are back in favour apparently and have you seen the new notes function? It appeared yesterday morning for me and I’m not quite sure what the point is? Joanne suggested it was just to keep us on our toes and I think she’s probably right but I also think it’s about keeping us all on here that little bit longer…..who knows, I certainly don’t!

What I do know is that the little (almost!) spring kitchen style up I’ve had in the kitchen is giving me all the feels. I shared it earlier in the week as a video but for those of us who like to zoom in here it is again. Packed full of vintage pieces in neutral tones and textures.

Have a wonderful day. Ours is starting with coffee and pastries.

Snapped and not styled! Wood wood and more wood, with a splash of terracotta and quite a few plants (just ignore the dogs bed casually shoved under the stairs!).

I’m loving the new location for my drawers of dreams (bought from Harrison&Waterfield Interiors]) that are now housed next to another set of dream drawers (also from Harrison&Waterfield Interiors]) both of which are now beautifully tidy inside. They house a multitude of sins, from stationary to sewing kit, floristry bits and bobs to paper for the printer as well as a glue gun, tape measures galore and more cables than you can shake a stick at.

This little area, below the kitchen (we live on a hill) works hard. Not only is it a major storage hub but there is a big basket of ironing down here, a washing line and a pile of vintage stock. It leads directly onto the garden, and the utility room, so it really does get its fair share of footfall. In an ideal world I’d make it bigger; but we’d need to win the lottery to do that. So for now it’s a small, aesthetically pleasing, fully functioning power house of a space and I love it!

Last year we gave the kids bathroom a bit of a refresh (do you remember it was dark grey?). The white subway tiles and the panelling are classics. So it was literally a case of a lick of pink paint (colour chosen by the youngest who flatly refused to let me paint it green! 🤣), hanging a vintage chandelier that I moved from the hall and swooping the scaffolding board shelves for potters boards which are a bit less chunky.

Needless to say I’m keen to do a bit more in here mainly because the mirror isn’t really working for me (too small, too black), we also need some wall lights and I’m totally over the black floor tiles that are just too overpowering.

However the budget is tight and the family’s tolerance of building work is extremely low! So I’m going to be looking for some easy peasy bathroom hacks, to give this hardworking space an extra glow.

I’ve got a few ideas but if you’ve got one that I need to know then I’d be delighted if you could share it!

This local cafe in the station at Ally Pally is pretty much perfection. Add in a lovely, smiley member of staff on a dreary (Monday) morning and bingo; why would you go anywhere else to get your caffeine fix! It’s officially my new favourite place.

What’s your favourite? I think I’m going to start a list 😊

Hello! We’ve had a bit of an unintentional break from insta during which time we’ve both eaten, drunk and made very merry. But now 2023 is upon us and we can’t wait to get stuck back in!

This year there will of course be oodles of vintage and a plethora of interiors, maybe a bit more cooking, Luther (and Nessa!) will be making the odd appearance and yes there will possibly be some more dancing! But above all there will be fun, friendship and loads of laughter. Thanks for sticking with us and a Happy New Year!

I usually post in the mornings but not today infact not this week. Because I don’t know about you but I am feeling pretty tired right now so, given there’s no real need to get up at 7am, I’ve been treating myself to a lie in until 8am!

For some insane reason we appear to be out every night this week so that extra hour in bed is proving to be an absolute god send. Especially as I still have some shopping to do, oh and all the wrapping and don’t get me started on the cooking!

One thing that is done is the Christmas tree and the festive mantle. I promised to share some still shots of this, as the reel I posted was very fast paced and I’m not sure you could really take it in 😂

I hope you’re not feeling too overwhelmed by your to do list? There comes a point, doesn’t there, where if it’s not done it’s just not getting done and I have to admit I’m almost there! Are you?!

I bring tidings of great joy; apparently still shots are making a come back! The algorithm has shifted again and carousel posts are being given more priority. It’s a pre-Christmas miracle!

So here are a few of my home, from my favourites folder, so you can literally zoom in to your hearts content!

In other news I’m on the home run on the bedroom revamp (conspicuous by its absence here) so I absolutely pinky promise all will be revealed this week. Have a lovely Sunday!

It’s a still shot!! The last time I posted one of these was back in July, but hey I like to surprise you every now and again. Especially as I went to the effort of giving my front doorstep a little bit of an autumn style up yesterday; note the “instawanker” Hunter wellies and the artfully placed logs. Ooooh it’s just like the good old days! 😂

Tamara and I are off to East London again today. Back to my homeland, which always feels good. What have you got planned, anything exciting?

It’s my wedding anniversary today. Twenty two years married, together twenty five years and we’ve been friends for nearly forty (we met at school!). We are off out for dinner tonight and then off to Wales with the dog and without the kids!

So I’m signing off on here for a bit. Not because I don’t enjoy being here (I really do, Tamara and I both do!) but because I/we need to find time to enjoy other stuff. So enjoy the rest of the summer and see you in a few weeks!

And just like that I’m back! Back to the dog (yay!) a huge pile of washing (not so yay) and a garden that’s gone completely wild 😂.

Thanks for following along with my Kefalonia stories (saved in highlights incase you missed them) and for cheering me on to make it home. Good old !

Back to reality with a bump this morning as I’m off to see for my weekly personal training session, then I’m catch up with Tamara for an all day chatting, packing and filming extravaganza.

We hit 100k followers on here yesterday (literally mind boggling) and so you know what that means don’t you?! Yes we need to create a dancing reel….but the question is what kind of dancing? Ballet dancing (again)? Ballroom dancing? Tap dancing? Disco dancing? Pole dancing?!!!

Well it definitely won’t be the last option but we’ve got to think of something pretty epic. If you’ve got any ideas, or indeed any requests, then we would love to know?! We’ve had so much fun making the other three; so if there’s something we can do to make you smile and to bring a bit of joy then we are completely here for that!

Yes I know I know still shots are not the thing to post these days but well I just couldn’t help it and I’ll explain why….

If you saw my stories over the weekend (I’ve saved them to highlights incase you missed them) you’ll know Mr VC and I were in Worcestershire. And what a lovely county it is! Rolling hills, fabulous views and we found the cutest little bolt hole to stay in (check out ).

We walked the Malvern hills, ate in a couple of nice pubs and yesterday visited Malvern flea which has long been on my to do list. I met sooooo many of my dealer friends and also managed to buy some great pieces; although I’ve got to be honest it was pretty stressful at the start without Tamara. She’s always much quicker off the blocks than me and after about an hour I was getting anxious I wouldn’t finD anything. But I did eventually get my eye in and it was worth the wait because I think I nailed the “faded, rustic elegance” brief (head over to stories to see what I bagged).

I did go slightly off piste with one piece, this mid-century portrait hanging above my fireplace. It’s a print of a painting by Sir Gerald Kelly and I love it! My mum has one so I just couldn’t leave it behind. First thing I did when I got home was to take a photo of it in my home@(actually I did hug the kids first so technically it was the second thing).

So there you have it. A very long explanation for the reason why I’ve offered up a still shot today. Never fear, normal reels service will resume very soon! 😂
