*NEW EPISODE* a brilliantly honest insight by on opening and running a restaurant as the reality behind the process - the real highs and lows and mindset you need to sustain them.

Roop came to London to start his vision and idea for an authentic, deeply personal but also accessible Indian dining concept. Just as he signed the lease on the old Holborn town hall building we were plunged into lockdownā€¦. Not the easiest of circumstances to say the least.

We talk a lot about family - the restaurant is inspired by the travel tales of Roop's father, an Indian Army officer Col. Manbeer Choudhary and his wife Mrs. Binny Choudhary across the Indian subcontinent. Colonel Saab is a ā€œlove letterā€ to his family, as well as homage to India.

Roop is a wonderful talker - listen for an amazing insight into this world and the beautiful stories behind the concept. Thank you, Roop, for sharing.

Do you love horses / horse racing? As someone that only really dabbles with a bet on the Grand National this chat was really eye opening for me and I loved it.

I had the privilege of chatting with Lucinda Russell, a hugely accomplished and successful horse trainer based up in Kinross. Lucinda - together with her husband Peter Scudamore, an eight time champion jockey who rode 1678 winners in his career - run LRR which trains and prepares national hunt horses. Lucinda has trained over seven hundred winners including nine graded winners and winners at the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals so absolutely top of her game in this space and the chat was fascinating learning what goes into that process, the huge benefits of getting to work with horses and understanding them and what they need, why she says a horse will only race if it wants to, what goes into the training, what happens when a horse canā€™t race, and of course what she believes are the attributes you need to work in this space.

Would love to know your thoughts on this world - do you agree with horse racing? Has this chat changed your perception at all? Also, itā€™s National Racehorse Week - you can read up more at http://www.nationalracehorseweek.uk/

The tricky side about being an obituary writer is that a level of your professional satisfaction comes when someone diesā€¦.

I love the fact I get to speak to brilliant, interesting and passionate people as part of the podcast- each one inspires me in different ways. This week is no exception and even more special as I had the pleasure of interviewing my dad, Bob.

Before retiring, dad was a news journalist for most of his career and for many years specialised in the craft of obituary writing for BBC TV news, BBC Online, radio and then freelance at national newspapers.

Itā€™s a career thatā€™s often very misunderstood - firstly, many donā€™t know what an obituary is - for the record itā€™s an article or report offering an account of a personā€™s life who has died. So in the UK, our media tends to feature obituaries, or obits for short, on famous people who die - you can read the obit section of a newspaper or when you watch the news and you hear a report and see footage taking you through the highlights of someoneā€™s life. So where people might think itā€™s a bit of a depressing area of journalism, youā€™ll learn in this chat that itā€™s the opposite.

As a journalist who used to be on the radio dadā€™s used to being recorded and interviewed and I think he brings it to life really nicely. I hope you like it and come away with a new appreciation for the obituary! Link in bio šŸŽ§

I donā€™t post a lot about myself but perhaps I should give people more a face and personality to the voice! Iā€™m Kate, creator and host of the Work, Actually podcast - a podcast I started to really offer the truth and reality behind different jobs and careers. We donā€™t get this enough - we get job descriptions and we get glossy ā€˜day in the lifeā€™ features but we rarely get the truth which includes good and bad points - what you can really expect from a role rather than the perception.

I often hear people say ā€˜god I wish this had been around when I was a studentā€™ so if you know any students please pass on the pod and it might help them make decisions on what to pursue and what not to!

Are you looking to feel inspired, empowered and energised to push yourself out of your comfort zone and discover new personal limits to push through? This chat with Wendy Searle does just that. The past week hasnā€™t been the easiest for me and this chat was just what I needed - a reminder of gaining perspective and realising how much we can do as individuals and how we place too much importance on sweating the small stuff.

Wendy is a polar expedition leader who became the 7th woman in history to ski solo from Antarctica to the South Pole - her story is incredible, a real lesson in mental and physical resilience and pushing yourself beyond where youā€™ve ever been before. This is where you gain real character - and Wendyā€™s story is amazing. I hope you enjoy the listen as much as I did. Link in bio.

Work has undoubtedly changed for a lot of us - companies are facing challenges in navigating hybrid working, changing company cultures and expectations, the great resignation and finding good talent. Therefore, fostering the right environment and mindsets on both an individual basis and team one is more important than ever.

This week I spoke to .snape, a former England and club cricketer and now a performance consultant and expert. After retiring from cricket, Jeremy completed a masters in sports psychology. He went on to work with different teams as well becoming a recognised name in the media on sports psychology . He took his learnings and approaches to start Sporting Edge, a company that works with businesses in helping foster and develop winning mindsets that transform behaviours and then results.

It was an honour to speak to yet another person who has achieved so much - and has so much to teach. Listen via the link in bio šŸŽ§

This type of exploitation is rife in the music industry and needs to change - it needs to become fairer and respectful for talented creatives offering time and experience that they deserve to be paid accordingly for.
