HIGHLIGHT: Regarding the recent public statements from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone (ICASL) clearing the suspended Auditor-General and Deputy Auditor-General of all professional misconduct charges in the tribunal's report, APC’s member of parliament, Hon. Aron Koroma, described the precedent as a reversal of the nation's progress in terms of transparency and added that the procedure was an attempt by the government to interfere with the independence of the Office of the Auditor-General.

On October 28, 2024, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone (ICASL), an umbrella body with the mandate to promote and regulate accounting profession in the country, released a public statement exonerating the suspended Auditor-General Lara Taylor-Pearce and Deputy Auditor-General Tamba Momoh of allegations in the Tribunal’s report report.

In support of ICASL’s position, Abu Bakarr Kamara, the Coordinator for the Budget Advocacy Network (BAN), condemns the allegations made against Madam Lara Taylor-Pearce and Mr. Tamba Momoh.
