The President has been facing criticism that he is not doing enough to clear his name, which is perceived as a failure in his efforts to combat drug-related issues, after it was reported that Jos Leijdekkers, Europe's most wanted fugitive, is in Sierra Leone and has alleged ties with the first family.

In defence, Alhaji Alpha Kanu, the Presidential Spokesperson, reiterates the president's commitment to address the illegal drug trafficking recalling the establishment of the "Drug Emergency Committee."

The Deputy Head of Media and Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohamed Bobson Senu, provides an update on what attracted Police suspicion of possible espionage by Dutch Journalist, Sophie Van Leeuwen.

HIGHLIGHT: Recently, the Sierra Leone Police arrested Dutch journalist Sophie Van Leeuwen for interrogation on suspicion of possible espionage and doing journalistic work in the country without permission from the government.

Although she was later released, her personal items like passport, phone, camera, and SD card were seized by the law enforcement officers.

However, some of her belongings were later released to her, with claims that the police had withheld her SD card.

Sophie has fled the country, being escorted by her lawyers.

The Deputy Head of Media and Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohamed Bobson Senu, provides more details into the purpose of her interrogations.

HIGHLIGHT: In January this year, parliamentary reporter and social commentator, Melvin Tejan Mansaray was barred from entering parliament by the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, on allegations of ‘malicious criticism’ and ‘insulting conduct’.

Yesterday, February 17th, Mansaray posted on Facebook, updating the public that he has received an invite to appear before the ethics committee in parliament to face the aforementioned claims.

Speaking to Liberty Online TV, Mansaray complains of unfair justice from the parliament.
