“208 IS SCARY. More accurately: 208 makes terrifying, ungodly, blood-splattered music that sounds far too devilish to be coming out of mortal beings. Despite the profound evil that churns in their demolished rock songs, the duo of Kyle Edmonds and Shelby Say are actually pretty sweet folks. They meet my knock on the unlocked door of their Hamtramck apartment with warm smiles, almost immediately taking the focus off our interview to show me hand-crafted accessories for the Dungeons & Dragons campaign they’ve been working on.”

Review-
Most of the big names on the American garage-punk scene of the noughties/tenies have, at one time or another, set up their own weirdo/dark-wave solo project, with the claimed aim of rubbing shoulders with an avant-garde level of arty-punk. We still remember the UFOs that were Blank Dogs (featuring Mike Sniper of the DC Snipers), Spider (by Erin Wood of the Spits), Giorgio Murderer and more recently Zondar x (with Robert Watson Craig III of Buck Biloxi & the F**k), Espectrostatic (by Alex Cuervo of the Hex Dispensers), etc.... Timmy V. Lampinen, the brilliant composer of Clone Defects, Human Eyeand Timmy’s Organism, has also tried his hand at that exercise. And with an undeniable talent!
His 2019 album-solo with Timmy Vulgar’s Genetic Armageddon, Music From The Other Side Of The Swamp (Mind Meld Records), already offered a bunch of seasoned hits with unbridled acid-rock and soaring psychedelia, embellished with synthetic oddities, spacey noise effects and alien drone strings. Five years later, the test is transformed with the track Zeta Reticuli, a nice little bomb that gives its name to this brand-new single. On the B-side, the Detroit artist completely changes register and offers an inspired dedication to Goodbye Boozy Records with a poignant, melancholy blues, When The Booze Is Gone, The Sorrow Is Still There. That 7inch is a killer ! Note- the B-side song is a coincidence. It Happen to be on a label called goodbye, Boozy records. .d.gregorio.77
