One of the high points for me in 2024….. as I was privileged to take the last Sunday of 2024 in Church.

My father Dr. John Akpami gave me this uncommon privilege to cap the year with a message of hope. Thank you Papa, am grateful.

THE 24 HOURS MIRACLE OF JOSEPH

TEXT:- Genesis 41:41-45
Message By Pastor SHABACH Abraham

The remarkable elevation of Joseph from a prisoner to the second most powerful man in Egypt. The five significant actions that Pharaoh takes toward Joseph symbolize not only Joseph's new authority but also his transformation into a highly honored and trusted leader. Here's a closer look at the meaning of these actions:

1. Pharaoh puts Joseph in charge of all Egypt (v. 41)
- Significance: This marks Joseph’s rise to a position of unparalleled authority, second only to Pharaoh himself. It is a fulfillment of God's providential plan for Joseph, aligning with the dreams he had as a youth (Genesis 37:5-10). Joseph's leadership over Egypt signifies God's ability to elevate the faithful from obscurity to prominence.

2. Pharaoh gives Joseph his signet ring (v. 42)
- Significance: The signet ring was a symbol of Pharaoh’s authority. By giving it to Joseph, Pharaoh entrusted him with the power to make decisions and act on his behalf. This gesture symbolizes the complete trust Pharaoh placed in Joseph and reflects Joseph’s wisdom and integrity.

3. Pharaoh dresses Joseph in fine linen and a gold chain (v. 42)
- Significance: These garments and the gold chain represent wealth, honor, and dignity. The fine linen also signifies Joseph’s transition from his status as a prisoner to that of royalty. This external transformation mirrors his internal character, which has been refined through trials.

4. Pharaoh gives Joseph a chariot and public recognition (v. 43)
- Significance: The chariot, a symbol of power and prestige, and the public proclamation of "Make way!" establish Joseph as Pharaoh's official representative. This public acknowledgment cements Joseph's authority and commands respect from the people of Egypt.

5. Pharaoh gives Joseph a new name and a wife (v. 45)
- Significance:
- New name: "Zaphenath-Paneah" is interpreted by many scholars as meaning "God speaks, and he lives" or "the revealer of secrets." This name acknowledges Joseph’s divine wisdom and the God-given ability to interpret dreams.
- Marriage: Joseph’s marriage to Asenath, the daughter of a prominent Egyptian priest, integrates him into Egyptian society and strengthens his position politically and culturally. This union also symbolizes Joseph's complete acceptance and assimilation into Egyptian leadership while maintaining his faith.

TRUE WORSHIP

Worship in the New Testament, from the Greek word *proskuneo*, means "to bow down" or "fall before" God. Worship isn't just a ritual or outward act—it's an attitude of the heart and spirit. Since it's something internal, it's something we can and should be doing throughout our entire lives, no matter where we are. Jesus emphasizes this in John 4:21, reminding us that worship isn't about a physical place but about our relationship with God. Christians, therefore, live in a constant state of worship, both individually and in community.

When believers gather to worship, the focus remains personal. Even in a group setting, each person connects individually with God, expressing their worship personally. True worship begins from the inside and includes two key parts: spirit and truth.

First, worshiping in spirit means it's not about our physical posture but about what's happening in our hearts. To worship God truly, we must have the Holy Spirit living within us, as only the Spirit enables us to connect with God (1 Corinthians 2:11). Without being born again through faith in Christ, we can’t fully know or respond to God in worship. The Holy Spirit moves us to glorify God, which is at the heart of all true worship.

Second, worshiping in spirit requires us to have minds focused on God, transformed by the truth of His Word. As Paul urges in Romans 12:1-2, worship involves offering ourselves fully to God, with minds renewed by His truth. This shift away from worldly distractions allows us to focus on God. When our thoughts are scattered, it can block genuine worship.

Additionally, worship from the heart requires repentance and a willingness to be open with God. David’s experience in the Psalms shows how sin can block worship, making it feel like God is distant. But when he confessed, his heart was free to reconnect with God, and worship flowed from him once again (Psalm 51:17).

The second key to true worship is worshiping in truth, which means our worship must be rooted in the truth of God's Word. Jesus tells us that God's Word is truth (John 17:17). To know and worship God fully, we need to understand who He is, as revealed in the Bible. Without that foundation, we can’t truly worship Him. Worship, then, is our heartfelt response to God's revealed truth.

Since Christian worship is about the heart and mind, there's no specific outward form we must follow. Whether we sit, stand, sing, or remain silent, the physical acts are secondary. What matters is that our hearts are aligned with God's Spirit, and our minds are rooted in His truth.
