Slow Fast Slow is one of those happy up beat Jazzy vibes that gets you snapping your fingers while you cruise along the highway in your super car. Or maybe just gets you waltzing around the living room with toe tapping abandon and a broad smile? Either way the piano leads the vibe and sets a classic rotating sequence to jam over. Jazzy piano with beats and a big lift in the middle. What's not to like?

You just know that if the Zombies arrived as you were completing a jittery Nu Jazzy cut they'll get their glam rags on and start up one of their odd break dance routines with a bit of Voguing thrown in. Asymmetric chord and key shifts are the order of the day and one of those things that Zombies particularly take a shine to, as indeed do a certain kind of Jazzer. With all this in mind perhaps Jazzers are merely a kind of Zombie? Anyway, OLDr nails it.

Easy listening has always evolved from Crooners to MOR, Cool Jazz to Yacht Rock, Mellow, LoFi, Lounge and Chill Out. There have been so many iterations of the elevator sound track where the music is there to function as a backing to the calm sophisticated enjoyment of life. Nu Easy adopts the ethos but runs with the en vogue and dips its toes into some very exciting, very NOW compositional techniques. All laid over a breezy Hip Hop beat to keep it real. Light up a stick, pour three ounces and luxuriate in Lounge heaven.

Dope roll in with a cyclic jam with a nagging riffy melody over a catchy infectious chord sequence that explodes into a massive jam and then takes off into a stratospheric harmonic tour de force. Piano led but synth backed, Kind of Dope really show off how dope they can get.

Fairground joy meets Lofi beats. A full combo of highly edited synth patches and midi sampling creates a patchwork of happy sounds on a lilting bounce. The System never puts their foot too firmly in a genre and this again is a non conformist track that manages to create its own world.

Back in the prehistoric years the very first original demo of Pleasure and Pain got swapped around sweaty paws on old C90 cassettes distributed by hand and mouth and treasured by devoted soul music aficionados in Northern climes. The track was in part defined by the packaging format and as such is an experience long lost to most in the internet age. This remake of that track was the antithesis as cooperation between Lance and Pete was completed over the internet when the World stayed at home and careers were brutally curtailed. Something very beautiful emerged from that experience and we are now hugely proud to re-present this track in its new guise and hope that even those original fans find the new interpretation extends their relationship with it.

The Carousel sits waiting for its next set of riders. Calm before the storm. The mood is anticipating and the soundtrack emerges from the ancient pipe organ set in the heart of the machine. A million times this music has played. Over and over like an OLDr track in a KooLr playlist. Waltzing to and fro and filling the void of anticipating the uncertain future.

Kind of Dope return to their contemporary Jazz vibes with an original composition flowing around a complex set of changes that seems as obvious and predictable as two five one. Relying heavily on a set of self programmed synths for both lead and background harmonic duties the mood is seventies but the production is twenties. This remains easy listening in the context of the release but the opportunities for live exposition are endless.

Strictly speaking its a Ballad for Bill but Blues just 'feels' better. Being precise is not the requirement of an artist. By definition the artist is a creative and as such can create what they will so long as THEY believe in the art THEY create. Adding words to it isn't really the domain of the musical artist. That is for others to imagine either absurdly or precisely or by adopting a relevant patois. If you want words why have you got ears?

Penned in 1990. Sat in the closet. Came out of the closet, got dusted off and was moulded into a slice of modern croontastic soulful bliss. Big fat beats meets something sexy from the seventies and you know how sexy the seventies were. Oozing slinky brass and string orchestration, silky BVs, rock solid rhythm section and the voice that is Lance Ellington. This is probably the best yet from Lance and Pete. Included is the track Outside looking in just for Value for Money in the silky Soul stakes.
