St Catherine’s chapel is a prominent landmark in the charming village of Abbotsbury in Dorset, England. This small chapel sits in splendid isolation on top of a hill overlooking Chesil Beach and the Isle of Portland. The remote and idyllic location of the chapel along with its all-encompassing views make it an ever-popular focal point when visiting this part of Dorset. As it is set spectacularly high on a hilltop, it can be seen from miles in any direction. The chapel can be accessed by foot on a fairly steep incline of approximately half a mile but the short hike and the climb up the hill is truly worth it. We were greeted with the fantastic sight of the picturesque coastline and panoramic views of the village below. The chapel, although it is now bare inside and only used occasionally for services by the local parish, it is open to the public and entry is free.
