✨ Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered, ‘Where did my old self go?'

💥 HERE IS AN IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR YOU!
We’re allowed to be more than carers; we’re still the people we’ve always been, just with bigger hearts and busier schedules!!

This has happened to me a lot over the last couple of years.
I became so used to the feelings of concern, worry and overwhelm being my default setting that it totally overshadowed other parts of me and I forgot what it was that I actually liked or wanted in my own life I even lost my sense of humour at times and became a bit "spicy" as the Husband bravely told me! 🌶️

I’m starting to reintroduce parts of me I thought were lost but it's not as easy as I thought. I still need to remember what life was like before and what I actually want for MY OWN LIFE.

What have you put to one side that you need to rediscover in your life?!

I'm enjoying my dog walks at the moment they give me space to think and just to be on my own for a bit which I haven't had for ages!

Do you like my new banner?! Pretty snazzy, huh? X

What are you doing each day that is helping you become future you?

I set aside time each day to read, just a few pages but I made it a non negotiable.
I watch Youtube videos when i’m cooking or washing up and I listen to podcasts when I’m doing the housework, walking the dog or driving.

What can you add to your week to enhance your personal growth?

Yes - of course it's a myth! Why else are we all too easily getting stressed out and overwhelmed?!

I tried for ages to get this "balance" but what does that even mean?
Who gets to decide what is balanced and what isn't? It's your life right, so whos idea of balance are we chasing?
That's when I realised that work-life balance is indeed a myth and set about finding my own strategies instead to manage my time better so that I felt calmer and in more control of my time and my life.
Instead design a life that works for you! Want to spend all day with your family on a Saturday but work on a Sunday morning - do it!
Want to take out your parents for lunch every third Friday instead of the housework - do it.
Design it all in a way that works for you and that makes you happy and fulfilled.

Prioritising yourself and your needs is an absolute MUST!!
I’m going to say it again!!
Prioritising YOU and your NEEDS is an absolute must!
Got it?!
😀 You are doing an amazing job looking after everyone and spinning all the plates right now. You make it look effortless even if often you’re waiting for all the plates to fall and break!

If you carry on neglecting what you need and you continue to put everyone else’s wants before your own you will grow tired, resentful angry and probably quite depressed.

Decide today that you will set yourself 3 non negotiables each day that allow you to give yourself a bit of time, space and love.

Financial independence is more than just security, it’s freedom. Freedom of choice.

When we find ourselves caught in the middle of so many people's demands on our time and energy, it is easy to not feel in control of anything or to feel any kind of freedom.

But remember this is just a season of life, nothing lasts forever. Use this time, make it count.

What if you could start to create a life NOW that sets you up for the future?

Let's start to empower ourselves to take control of our future rather than falling back on the expectation or hope that it will come to us through others in the future.
If I've learnt anything these last couple of years, it's how generational wealth can look very different, very quickly.
Don't rely on others.
Future-proof your wealth.

You need practical and sustainable self-care strategies that fit into your busy life.
Here are five ways you can practice self-care that don't include a bubble bath or a journal!

1. Set Boundaries and Learn to Say No
Set clear boundaries around your time & energy. This might mean saying no to added commitments or delegating tasks. Create your ideal schedule and protect it!

2. Incorporate Mindfulness and watch your breathing.
You can integrate short breathing exercises or mindfulness moments into your day, especially during slow moments like waiting for the kettle to boil or waiting in line. This helps reduce stress and increase your resilience in managing your responsibilities.

3. Schedule Regular Breaks and Downtime
Just 10-15 minutes, scheduling small breaks throughout the day can make a big difference. Go for a quick walk, stretch, or simply sit quietly with a cup of tea. Consistent, short breaks help prevent burnout and maintain energy levels.

4. Prioritise Sleep
Sleep is crucial for your overall well-being. Have a bedtime routine that helps relaxation, such as limiting screen time before bed, or reading something enjoyable. Quality sleep can significantly impact your ability to manage stress.

5. Connect with Supportive Communities.
You shouldn't and don't have to do it all alone. Connect with supportive communities, whether through online groups, local support groups, or networking with other female entrepreneurs. Sharing experiences and advice can provide emotional support and practical tips, making this journey less isolating.

6. Find Micro-self-care moments.
These are small, intentional actions that take little time but offer a significant boost in well-being. This could be as simple as listening to a favourite song while preparing breakfast, savouring a piece of dark chocolate, or spending five minutes in quiet. These brief moments of joy and reflection can be woven into your day without adding to your busy life.

These 6 steps focus on creating sustainable habits that fit into your busy lifestyle, helping you manage overwhelm while maintaining your well-being.

Let's talk FOMO! (fear of missing out)

I thought the days of FOMO had been left in the school playground but when I found myself as part of the sandwich generation, looking after my parents who are both unwell, it hit me, with vengeance!

Ive done quite a bit of research into the sandwch gen and this issue of mussing out doenat seem to be spoken about enough
We are sacrificing so much! Maybe it's having to arrange a holiday around when it suits others to care in your absence, maybe it's cutting a holiday shorter than usual, maybe it's just not going at all!

If like me you run a business, it could mean you can't get to events or networking.

Or to go a bit deeper, it's about the fear of missing out on the relationship that you thought that you were going to have with your parents and that your children would have with their grandparents.
It's the fear of not having that extra layer of support, that comfort blanket of parental stability that so many are us have been fortunate to enjoy.

So next time you feel a bit frustrated, resentful, isolated. Know youre not alone. Many of us are feeling it too.
Don't hesitate to reach out to me if youre struggling with this, we can have a virtual cuppa xx

You don’t have to do it ALL to be enough.

How many balls you can juggle and how many plates you can spin does not equal your worth.

Let’s debunk the myth that you need to be everything to everyone.

It’s okay to ask for help. It is not a sign that you can't cope or that you've had enough! it is not selfish and it is not passing the buck.
It is simply asking for some support because you aren't superhuman!
