Here’s a “digestible” guide to look after yourself at home! 👉Check out the other post for more!
1️⃣Stick to the fact. 🔍
Don’t get drown in the overwhelming news… and sometimes fake news! If you are experiencing intense anxiety, maybe try turning off the news notification and only check out trustworthy sources once a day. 📰
2️⃣ ⭐️ Most importantly: Love yourself. ❤️ Appreciate your emotions.
⭐️⭐️It’s completely normal to feel something different these days. You don’t have to be like anyone else. If you feel overwhelmed, it’s fine. If you can’t get productive, it’s fine. The most important thing right now is to take care of yourself. It is totally fine to feel. We all have emotions, ups and downs. The point is, LEARN TO COPE and don’t get drowned. If you identify any ongoing down emotions for too long, maybe seek for some help — check out the other post for a list of helplines.
This is just a guide for your reference. You know yourself better than we do. Try something that works for you the best.❤️

A Digestible Guide to Look After Your Mental Health - cont’d.
3️⃣ Stay connected. 🔗
Like we’ve said, it’s totally normal to feel worried. It’s important to acknowledge your feelings and speak to someone you trust, whether that’s a friend, a family member, a teacher or a helpline. 📞
4⃣️Form a new routine. 🗓 Do things you enjoy. 😃
Now that you’ve got more time with yourself, maybe try learning something new or something you enjoy. Umm… What about making some banana bread? 🍌🍞
5️⃣ Try some home workouts. 💪
You don’t need a home gym! There are loads of no-equipment workouts available online! Even if you need a pair of dumbbells, you can substitute them to water bottles or whatever you’ve got on hand!
Again, this guide is just for your reference. Take care of yourself. Stay safe. We’ll get through this! 😃

Now here’s something for fun — how to grow your own vegetable simply in water?
It’s not necessarily for reducing food waste, but at least you don’t need to repeatedly buy constantly sued veggies like spring onions every a couple of days…🙌 And also, kill your boredom!
All you need is a container filled with water ➕ food scraps. Here’s a list of vegetables that can be regrown from scraps in water!
1⃣️Green onion, 2⃣️bok choy, 3⃣️cabbage, 4⃣️celery, 5⃣️fennel, 6⃣️garlic chives, 7⃣️lettuce…
As you spend more time at home and may have nothing to do, why not learn to grow your own vegetables for a so-called self-sufficient lifestyle? 😜
Make something out of your self-isolation!

Here’s a visual guide to explore the maximum potential of your fridge and freezer (👉SWIPE TO SEE MORE👈). Follow this to store your food properly, so that you can shop infrequently while having enough food at home! 🚪
1⃣️ How to properly put your food in the fridge? It largely depends on if the food is sensitive to the change in temperature. The lower shelf usually has the lowest temperature.
2⃣️ How to store leafy green🥒?.
3⃣️ How to freeze meat🥩 and fish🐟?
4⃣️ Remember: Always cook thoroughly. NEVER REFREEZE raw meat of fish after defrosting them. ❄️
5⃣️ Other food that can be kept in the freezer.
Do you know that you can also freeze bread🍞, cheese🧀, eggs🥚 and more?
Always remember to divide the food in portions before freezing them, so that you only need to defrost the portion that you need!

UK shoppers spent an extra £1.9bn stockpiling groceries in the run-up to the coronavirus lockdown. 🛒
The stockpiling has developed into panic buying — but is it really necessary? Have you thought about the food waste that have been left behind? 🗑
As people panic-buy the last box of eggs🥚, fruit🍎 or vegetables🥦, many have ignored how much food they can actually consume. Out-of-date food have been tossed in the bin as a result of panic-buying.
Loaves of bread, bunches of bananas🍌 and unopened packs of chicken products🍗 had all been seen tossed aside. 😔
Plan ahead and only buy things that you really need. Store them properly to avoid food waste. Have a look at our handy tips in our other 2 posts — shop infrequently, but adequately and smartly. 😛

New Zealand's parliament has passed a bill decriminalising abortion and allowing women to choose a termination up to 20 weeks into a pregnancy. 👀
For more than 40 years, abortion was the only medical procedure considered a crime in New Zealand - unless it was performed under exceptional circumstances.☹️
"The previous law required a woman seeking an abortion to go through many hoops. The changes agreed to by parliament will better ensure women get advice and treatment in a more timely way,” Justice Minister Andrew Little said.🤰
Women would be able to refer themselves to an abortion service provider and would have to be made aware of counselling services. ✂️
New Zealand is one of the countries who have changed their abortion policy — but we should not stop here. More places around the word need to make a difference.

Over the past several decades, monumental gains have been made in securing women’s right to abortion, with nearly 50 countries liberalising their abortion laws. 👏
Some of this reform has been incremental, enabling women to access legal abortion only when there is a threat to her life or when pregnancy results from r**e. But many of these changes have been truly transformative, overturning absolute bans on abortion in favour of women’s reproductive autonomy. 👍

970 million women, representing 59% of women of reproductive age, live in countries that broadly allow abortion. 🌖
While a majority of women live in countries where they can exercise their right to abortion, 41 percent of women live under restrictive laws.⛓The inability of to access safe and legal abortion care impacts 700 million women of reproductive age. 😱
According to the World Health Organization, 23,000 women die of unsafe abortion each year and tens of thousands more experience significant health complications. ⚠️
👉Legal restrictions on abortion do not result in fewer abortions, instead they compel women to risk their lives and health by seeking out unsafe abortion care. 👈
The legal status of abortion indicates more than just where women and girls are legally permitted to decide whether to a pregnancy term or not. It also reveals 1⃣️ how likely a woman is to die from unsafe abortion, 2⃣️ whether girls will complete their education, and 3⃣️ the limits on women and girls’ ability to participate in public and political life.
In short, tracking the legal status of abortion shows us where women and girls are treated with equality and are afforded the opportunity to direct the course of their own lives. ⚖️

Almost 1.3 million children, about 15% of those in England's state schools, receive free school meals because they come from low income families. 🍱
With all schools closed indefinitely, what’s waiting for these children? Who’s going to feed them? 🤔
The government has set out plans. 👇
Low-income families whose children are eligible for free school meals will be offered vouchers, food or meals to make sure they continue receiving this support, even if they are no longer attending school due to the coronavirus outbreak.

School kitchens are being called on to provide dinners for children on free school meals. Charities including Feeding Britain and Hebburn Helps are taking steps to provide food. 🍽🍳
While parents are mostly asked to collect the food and take home, Feeding Britain is trying to initiate a home delivery service to help the most vulnerable families. 📦
Many individuals are doing what they can do to help. Some parents are volunteering to help feed children in need; Some are contributing to food banks in schools and distributing food parcels to those in need. 🏘
There are still kindness and hopes amid outbreaks. You can do your bit too. ❤️

So… What can you do to help? Here’s our suggestions.⬇️ Comment down below to share your ideas!
- Donate to charities and community food bank. If you’ve got any extra tinned food, long-shelf-life food or toiletries, donate to Hebburn Helps. Or, donate directly to them or Feeding Britain to support those kids!
- Help you neighbours. Help your neighbours’ kids. Under the premise of appropriate social distancing, try to support your self-isolating neighbours if they need your help. Do some groceries for them. Watch their kid if they are out at work.
- Shop responsibly. Think about others. Think before you buy. Do you really need that hundreds of toilet rolls or pasta? Stop panic-buying and leave some goods for others who need to stay healthy.
Stay safe and take care. It is time for everyone to do their bit and support the community.
