Happy Birthday love of my life

15 birthdays with you and every year, I’ve had the privilege of seeing you grow not just in age but as a person, a husband and a father ✨

I’m so proud of you and all that you’ve achieved - both big and small. From your personal & professional milestones to mastering the assembling of flat-pack furniture without swearing (too much).

But beyond that, I’m so proud of the person you are. Thank you for being the most loyal, supportive and thoughtful partner..thank you for this beautiful life we have.. thank you for your adventurous spirit and always saying yes to me(even though it sometimes comes with an eye roll). Thank you for always seeing me and loving me the way you do. And ofcourse for being so effortlessly hot 😩 still the most handsome man I have ever laid eyes on in real life 🥹

I hope you always know and feel how loved, respected and appreciated you are ❤️

I love you my darling … now let’s go enjoy this last year of your 30s 🥹🤩

Hey guyyys, so as promised here are the tips for hard water damage and how to prevent it.

Now I looove London but my hair hates it 🥲 and I definitely underestimated the effect hard water would have on my hair and skin!

So some of the signs I experienced were dull, dry/brittle hair(which is worse in winter too!) and alot more breakage.. my scalp was also getting oily so quickly.. I couldn’t even get two good days after hair wash!

So I visited Amanda and chatted to her to put together these tips for you if you’re also struggling with hard water hair damage after your move

1. Invest in a Shower Filter
- Hard water contains high levels of minerals like calcium and magnesium, which can cause dryness and damage. Installing a shower filter can help reduce these minerals, making the water gentler on your hair.
- Pro Tip:Look for a filter that’s specifically designed to soften water for the best results.

2. Use a Purifying Shampoo
- Purifying shampoos are specifically formulated to remove mineral buildup from hard water. Using one once a week can help detox your hair and prevent it from becoming dull or brittle. You can also a few drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo, or mix it with water and spray it onto your scalp before rinsing. This can help keep your scalp healthy and your hair free from buildup.
- Pro Tip: Since purifying shampoos can be a bit drying, follow up with a good conditioner or hair mask to lock in moisture.

3. Apply Leave-In Conditioner or Hair Oil
- A leave-in conditioner or lightweight hair oil can help form a barrier on your hair, making it harder for minerals to cling to your strands.
- Pro Tip: Apply it to damp hair, focusing on the ends. This will help with detangling as well as provide protection.

4. Do a Vinegar Rinse
- An apple cider vinegar rinse can help break down mineral buildup and restore your hair’s pH balance. Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 3 parts water and use it as a rinse after shampooing.
- Pro Tip: Don’t worry about the smell, it fades quickly. Rinse it out with cold water to seal your hair cuticles.

5. Get a Deep Cleansing Treatment at a Salon
- Visiting a salon for a professional deep-cleansing or clarifying treatment can help remove hard water mineral buildup more thoroughly than at-home methods. These treatments are designed to detoxify your hair, leaving it fresh, soft, and free from impurities.
- Pro Tip: Consider doing this treatment every 6 to 8 weeks to keep your hair healthy, especially if you're dealing with long-term hard water exposure.

So here’s what I had done..Amanda used a purifying hair bath on my hair first, we used the one for oily scalp to remove the build up. Then we used the herbs and clay peeling cleanser with tea tree oil for reviving the scalp. Immediately after rinsing I felt the difference in the softness of my hair! Will give you some feedback on my oily scalp once I have implemented more of the tips!

Hope this helps 🫶🏼

Now, I’m no pro..just a girl who likes a Durban curry 🥹 but between my mum, mum in law, sisters as well as trial & error … I learnt a few things 😂

Now a Durban Lamb Curry, IMHO is in a class of its own and it feels like home for us.. now when home is an 11 hour flight away.. we learn to make do where we are 🥹 so here’s a few tips to a good lamb curry if you’re in the Uk from my personal experience.. and please feel free to share your own suggestions/ experiences in the comments if you’re abroad. It just might help out fellow Saffas lissing for a Durban curry in another part of the world 😆🥹🥲

1. Most importantly get the right spices. Everyone has their preferences and my mum even grinds her own 😂 a good Kashmiri and rumbo are a good place to start. In this video I am using my stash from SA. Trying out Ammas Karou Kashmiri from Maharaja's Spices
2. Don’t forget the whole spices - whole spices add layers of flavours that just elevate the smell and taste of your dish. Most Indian grocers and even your local supermarket will have most of them.
3. The meat.. lots of people complain about the taste of lamb here.. it’s not Karoo lamb 🥲 what can we do lol.. but I have found that shopping my meat at a good Halal butcher gives me better lamb than I can get in most stores…I usually ask for back leg and they even cut it on curry pieces for me. Tariq’s is a popular and well known butchery that I can suggest for really good quality meat.
4. Add lots of onions! I use red onions because I like the taste but that’s a personal preference.. onions give a lovely gravy. Slice them thinner than I did please 🥲😂
5. Potatoes are VERY important.. they need to bust nicely you know 🥲 some might say it’s more important than the meat 😂(me…I am some) . The closest I found to Up to Date here in the Uk is Albert Bartlett Rooster potatoes and they have a red skin. Maris Piper are also soft cooking and I used those for a while too.
6. Oil can be a personal preference too.. I use ghee - my sister thinks the onions don’t brown as nicely with ghee and I agree but I prefer ghee over oil. I also use a lot less than I used to, as we try to defy our genetic dispositions. And in my opinion it really doesn’t affect the taste.
7. Let the lamb release its natural water .. don’t rush to add water to your curry.. let the lamb cook on medium heat and sear in the spices while releasing its natural water. If you do want to add water after the potatoes, add a little at a time to the sides of the pot to avoid the curry getting caught at the bottom ..or just lower the heat 😉
8. When your lamb is half way down add your potatoes.. and only stop cooking that curry when you see that potato pop 😍
9. Make sure you have a carrot salad alongside it!
10. Invite me over coz sharing is caring 😉

Happy Women’s Day South Africa 🇿🇦✨

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and beauty of every woman’s unique journey.

We honour the freedom to choose who we want to be, the power to shape our own paths, and the courage to stand tall in a world that often tries to box us in.

But as we celebrate, let’s not forget the work still ahead..especially as we have a hand shaping the future generations of our world...

All women deserve not only equal rights & opportunities, but the right to live without fear or judgment—no matter what we choose to do, to wear, where we walk or how we choose to live our lives…

Let’s continue to lift each other up, break down barriers, and demand a world where women can feel safe, respected, and free to be herself ✨

Until then, our work is not done…

Here’s to the sisterhood, to our shared stories, and to a hopeful future where every woman, our sisters, our daughters, our granddaughters can truly thrive..

Together, we rise. 💪🏽✨
