ARCHIVE RESEARCHER/RESEARCHER
Black Leaf Films are looking for a researcher/archive researcher to work on the development of a new feature length documentary film about Palestine, in part focusing on the Mandate era.
We require someone to conduct archive and contributor research through a diverse range of sources and - from institutions, government archives, film archives and others. You will help engage specialist archive researchers in other countries as required and liaise with them.
The archive required will be a combination of: film, photograph, radio, personal archives, official documents and newspapers.
The research will also involve tracking down contributors from the Mandate era, and/or their relatives.
Required:
Fluent Arabic and English.
Good experience of working in the region, and ideally with a wide range of archive sources, ie state archives, personal archives, and institutional archives.
The ideal candidate will have some or all of the following skills:
● An ability to find people scattered across the region.
● Ideally, an ability to watch and log a large amount of archival footage, still materials, audio archives, and documents (newspapers, government papers, etc)
● An understanding of editorial policy, accuracy and fairness when re-telling a story
● An ability to prioritise a lot of different tasks that may all have the same deadline
● Able to work fast and efficiently under tight deadlines
● Maintain a good working relationship with the editorial team, post facilities and archive sources
● Highly organised with strong administrative skills

Contract will be on a part time freelance basis for 4-5 weeks initially, potentially starting from 15th September
Dates: 15th Sept – 19th October
Location: Camden, London. Mostly office based with some hybrid working. Hrs flexible.
