Bible Study Verses // Matthew 16:16, 22-23 // Apostle DC Hooper

Matthew 16:16, 22-23 NLT
[16] Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
[22] But Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things. “Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said. “This will never happen to you!” [23] Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”

Matthew 16:16, 22-23 AMP
[16] Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the Son of the living God.”
[22] Peter took Him aside [to speak to Him privately] and began to reprimand Him, saying, “May God forbid it! This will never happen to You.” [23] But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on things of God, but on things of man.”

Bible Study Verses // Proverbs 15:18,28 // Apostle DC Hooper

Proverbs 15:18,28 AMP
A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, But he who is slow to anger and patient calms disputes. [28] The heart of the righteous thinks carefully about how to answer [in a wise and appropriate and timely way], But the [babbling] mouth of the wicked pours out malevolent things.

Proverbs 15:18,28 NLTA
A hot-tempered person starts fights; a cool-tempered person stops them. [28] The heart of the godly thinks carefully before speaking; the mouth of the wicked overflows with evil words.

Randomly snapped myself twice trying to create a video, then something really struck me, I realised I couldn't remember the last time I took a picture of myself. Time moves so fast and sometimes it's very important to capture yourself in the moment.

Though we may be connected more than ever through social media, it's often become a place where people flex their lives and attack each other, causing many to shut down or disappear.

I have to admit, at times, I've felt like I'm not achieving enough or have little value while looking at 'successful' people.
Even as a Christian Minister, I have become frustrated that others achieve great reach while my content doesn't, making me have negative thoughts that my contributions to the kingdom are worthless.

We must recognise this is a lie. The online world today simply isn't real life. It’s often an illusion, designed to beat people down into following worldliness, lust, and materialism. As 1 John 2:16-17 (NLT) says: "For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions... this world is fading away... But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever." Many people are chasing the bag and losing their soul, falling into depression, anxiety, jealousy, and anger.

Be confident in your own goals. You cannot take material wealth beyond the grave; everything here returns to dust. Matthew 6:20-21 (NLT) reminds us: "Store your treasures in heaven... Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be." Don't let negativity dominate your mind; find peace and joy in Jesus Christ. Reject the world, embrace the kingdom.

Acknowledge negative thoughts; ask yourself "Why?" Then give those feelings to the Lord. Declare positive affirmations. Spend time in prayer and the Bible. "Fix your thoughts on what is true... honorable... right... pure... lovely... admirable... excellent... worthy of praise." (Philippians 4:8 NLT). Then you shall see your mindset transformed.
Romans 12:2 (NLT): "Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think."

Bible Study Verses // Philippians 4:6,8 // Apostle DC Hooper

Philippians 4:6,8 AMP
Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. [8] Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].

Philippians 4:6,8 NLTA
Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. [8] And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
