Last week, politicians flooded social media for Small Business Saturday, celebrating local, independent, family-run businesses as the backbone of our economy.

But here’s the hard truth: our economy isn’t built to support them like it should be. Maybe it never was.

Small businesses are fighting against a system that prioritises profits over people and big corporations over community. It's time we start rethinking how we build an economy that truly enables these businesses to thrive.

Let’s support the small businesses in our communities—not just with words, but with action. 🛍️💡

💡 What does the future hold for UK businesses under Labour’s first Budget?

Last night on GB News I shared my viewpoint of the UK’s current economic policies, exploring how recent changes will impact businesses, workers and society.
📉 Employer’s National Insurance Contributions (NICs) will rise sharply, triggering the steepest slump in hiring since August 2020.
🛠️ The earning threshold for employees to start paying NI will drop from £9,100 to £5,000—a direct hit on low-income workers.
📊 A 16.3% increase in National Minimum Wage for 18-20 year-olds is set to rise to £10/hour by April 2025, putting pressure on small businesses.
⚠️ Business confidence is at its lowest in 2 years, according to BDO Auditors, exacerbated by these changes.
