The Church
Times has always been independent of the Church of England hierarchy. The paper was started in the 1860s to campaign for Anglo-Catholic principles, but now aims to provide balanced and fair reporting of events and opinions across the whole range of Anglican affairs. The Church Times runs several events, including an annual clergy Cricket Cup, the Festival of Faith and Literature, and the Festival of Preaching. The Train a Priest (TAP) Fund has raised over £4.6 million to support ordinands and their families since it was established in 1952.
