FOOTING THE BILL Albanian gangsters in UK prisons costing taxpayer £57million a year as drugs kingpins wage war on our streets

ALBANIAN criminals held in prisons here are costing the taxpayer £57million a year, figures show.

There are 1,336 Albanians serving time in jails in England and Wales, according to an official report.

Members of the Albanian gang have been showing off on social media site

Alleged Hellbanianz gang members pose with flash cars

The gang's page boasts that their gang motto is 'We Are God Of The Streets'

Albania's director of immigration police Saimir Boshnjaku says many of his countrymen are forced to work for gangsters

With the average cost of keeping a prisoner at £42,670 a year, according to the Ministry of Justice, the cost of holding them would come to £57,007,120.

The bill emerged as stats show 12,000 Albanians have reached the UK in small boats so far this year.

The country’s director of immigration police Saimir Boshnjaku said many were forced to work for gangsters to repay the cost of being smuggled to the UK.

He said: “Those that make money from drugs come back here driving Maseratis and Mercedes and they buy a big villa in the village.”

Albanian political respondent Muhamed Veliu has called on the UK government to issue more visas so people can migrate safely and legally.

"Only a small portion of people arriving on the boat end up in crime.

"The majority of them arrive in the UK because it’s a huge market that needs labour in building construction.

"It’s the level of salaries in the UK that attracts Albanians.”

Members of an Albanian gang known as The Hellbanianz, who were flooding Britain with co***ne, were revealed to be brazenly posting pictures online as they showed off their guns, cash and flash motors.

The gang, based in Barking, East London, are understood to traffic millions of pounds worth of drugs into the UK each year.

But instead of keeping a low profile, the group previously flaunted their wealth and stash of weapons online, getting nearly 10,000 followers to their social media pages.

Three members of the gang were locked up for a total of 42 years in 2016 following a police operation which recovered £6million worth of drugs and a machine gun.

One member, pictured showing his middle finger to the camera, wrote on Instagram: “I'm trying to spend It.. You still trying to make it not ”

FLAUNT MONEY AND GUNS

Other images on their social media channels include a cake laden with £50 notes as well as footage of gang-members in prison rapping about violent attacks.

Pictures have even been posted of a small child wearing a gang symbol medallion.

Elsewhere, they brag about having “city control” over London and say they are “ready for war” with rival gangs.

In a disturbing YouTube video gang members rap to warn their rivals.

They claim they are “God of the streets” and they pose with expensive cars and glamorous women.

They rap: “[Hellbanianz] is ready for violence, he asked this as proof, ask these or talk about facts, ask this if we shoot.

“London city control, f*** this team with crowns, f*** that b***h from tattoos, the gang has already taken over.

'READY FOR WAR'

“[Hellbanianz] is ready for war, with two arms arm wrist, we about dat gango bando, how do you compare to me?”

Several members of Hellbanainz are in jail including Tristen Aslanni who was caged for 25 years for drugs and fi****ms offences.

He was arrested after crashing a car containing a suitcase of co***ne into a shop in Crouch End after being pursued by police.

During a search of a house in connection to his arrest, cops found a £6m drug stash, including co***ne and a Skorpion machine gun with a silencer.

The National Crime Agency believes because Albanian gangs import so much co***ne into the UK, this has contributed to the growth of county lines gangs.

These gangs often groom young children to transport drugs out of London to sell in quiet towns and other areas.

A spokesman at the National Crime Agency said groups like these are expanding and increasing in number.

The spokesman said: “Albanian crime groups have established a high profile and degree of influence within UK organised crime, and have considerable access to the UK drug trafficking market, particularly co***ne.”

Instagram has now taken down five of the Hellbanianz accounts.

A spokesman said: “We do not allow illegal behaviour, threats of physical harm or organised crime on Instagram.

"The account .z and related accounts have been removed for violating our community guidelines.

"We encourage anyone who comes across this type of content to report it via our in-app tools. We work 24/7 to review and remove anything that violates our terms.”

HOLIDAY HELL Sick Dubai prison guards boasted about ‘beating s**t’ out of Brit tourist 39, who was ‘left to die like dog’

SICK guards boasted about "beating the s**t out" of a British tourist who was left to die like a dog in a Dubai police station, an inquest has heard.

Lee Brown died in Dubai after being beaten and starved by guards in a notorious Dubai police station, an inquest was told

It was claimed Mr Brown was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting a barmaid at the Burj Al Arab Hotel

Lee Brown, 39, died at Bur Dubai police station after travelling to the Gulf on April 6, 2011, while on his way to visit his girlfriend in Indonesia.

Walthamstow Coroner's Court heard Mr Brown was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting a barmaid at the Burj Al Arab Hotel.

One detainee, who could only be referred to as Detainee One, told jurors in a written statement read by the coroner, a British man was bought into the courtyard on April 7 2011 and behaving "abnormally".

They said: "He was very loud and guards and prisoners were becoming noticeably annoyed by his behaviour."

The jurors were told Mr Brown was being "abusive" but not in a physical or threatening way, however others around him became "perplexed and annoyed" while the "foul language" he used offended some of the Muslim prisoners.

It continued: "I was disturbed but mainly felt sorry for him as he genuinely seemed really unwell.

"I was worried if he kept going on the way he was he would get attacked by the guards. He was shouting all kinds of things, some of which made sense and some of which did not.

"He mentioned a girl had come into his room at the hotel. He told her to leave and thereafter police were called. I told him to stay calm and sit it out.

"He had no capacity to rationally think through the situation and identify a course of action that would allow him to resolve matters."

The account detailed claims of Mr Brown taking his trousers down and making rude and inappropriate remarks to the prosecutor, infuriating the authorities.

It said: "One prisoner said they heard guards say they 'beat the sh*t' out of him.

"A prisoner told me he had said 'help me' to them. One day I woke up and heard simply that he had died. He was simply left to die on his own like a dog."

'HE WAS BLEEDING'

In another statement, referred to as an account from Detainee Two, it was claimed Mr Brown was making statements like he was a false "Messiah".

It said: "When he got back from the prosecutor's office he was bleeding head to toe and there were marks on his wrists.

"There were no marks on him before he went to the prosecutor. He said he had been beaten and kicked in the head."

Claims were made police asked several prisoners to move Mr Brown into solitary confinement.

The statement continued: "Later that evening there was still bleeding on his head. I said to the guards 'let him out' and they said 'he is mad.' Lee was saying 'help me, help me, I am going to die'.

"On 12 April an inmate came down and asked for Lee's passport. He asked for it 'because the British fellow had died.' They took Lee out in a bag."

Detainee Three said Mr Brown had claimed he'd been abducted by aliens and after coming back from the prosecutor's office he was bleeding.

She said: "Every now and again he would see aliens or something and he believed it. At the time before he left he was not himself and I could tell he was not himself."

Mr Brown's mother, Doris, told the court her son was "having a breakdown".

Doris said she'll remember her "hardworking" son as a "happy and family-orientated person".

Area Coroner for East London Nadia Persaud is presiding over the matter which continues and is expected to last until Friday.

A spokesperson at the UAE Embassy in the United Kingdom said it rejects the findings from the inquest, labelling them as "neither fair nor reasonable".

They said: “The Walthamstow Coroner’s Court ignored the prior findings of the High Court, the initial Coroner’s Court, and medial authorities in both the UK and the UAE.

"It relied on unsubstantiated, third-hand, hearsay claims by former anonymous prison inmates who relayed by way of written statements that they had 'been told' by other prisoners that they had 'overheard' guards at the prison speaking about beating Lee.

“The allegations were thoroughly investigated in 2011 by both UAE medical authorities and Police, and also by a British consultant pathologist appointed by Mr Brown’s family."

They said that evidence, as well as a series of medical reports and witness statements provided to the initial inquest in 2011, led that Coroner to return an open verdict in Mr Brown’s death, meaning the cause of his passing could not be determined.

The statement added: "In 2015, a High Court case brought by Mr Brown’s family challenging the Coroner’s verdict also concluded that 'there was no evidence of this being a violent death'.

"In line with international standards, the UAE has stringent laws, regulations, and procedures in place to ensure the physical and psychological wellbeing of all detainees.

"This case is unusual and unfortunate, but the UAE stands behind its treatment of Mr Brown.”

AN Instagram fraudster who flaunted his lavish lifestyle on social media after leading global scams worth millions has been jailed.

Ramon Abbas, who called himself Ray Hushpuppi, laundered millions of stolen dollars amid a series of cyberheists that saw him pocket millions and pose with supercars.

He conned victims all over the world.

Abbas was arrested in a raid in Dubai in June last year following an FBI probeCredit:

The 40-year-old Nigerian influencer used an extravagant social media persona boasting 2.5million followers to con victims all over the world.

He has now been sentenced in Los Angeles to more than 11 years in federal prison and ordered to pay $1.7 million in restitution to two fraud victims, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

Don Alway, assistant director in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles office, said: "Abbas was one of the most prolific money launderers in the world."

Prosecutors said Abbas and a Canadian man laundered money from various online crimes including bank cyberheists and business email compromise - a prolific crime in which crooks hack into email accounts, pretend to be someone they're not and fool victims into wiring money where it doesn't belong.

In 2019, he helped launder some $14.7 million stolen by North Korean hackers from a bank in Malta, funneling the money through banks in Romania and Bulgaria, prosecutors said.

He also helped launder millions of pounds stolen from a British company and a Premier League club, got a New York-based law firm to transfer nearly $923,000 to a criminal account and acknowledged in a plea agreement that he helped defraud someone in Qatar who sought a $15 million loan to build a school, federal prosecutors said.

At Monday's sentencing, Abbas was sentenced to 135 months in federal prison and was ordered to pay $922,857 in restitution to the law firm and $809,983 in restitution to the victim in Qatar.

By his own admission, during just an 18-month period defendant conspired to launder over $300 million, prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memorandum, although they said much of the intended loss did not ultimately materialize.

Abbas was arrested in 2020 in Dubai amid a raid following an FBI probe.

His social media posts showed him living a life of luxury, complete with private jets, ultra-expensive cars and high-end clothes and watches.

One Instagram post read: "I hope someday I will be inspiring more young people to join me on this path."

Court documents show Abbas started his career as a Yahoo Boy in Nigeria.

Yahoo Boys are scam artists who trick online lovers out of money.

The son of a taxi driver and market trader, by 2014 Abbas had moved to Kuala Lumpur; three years later he would move to Dubai.

It was in Dubai that Abbas ramped up his selfies with his fleet of luxury motors, designer clothes and on private jets.

He claimed to be a property developer and was dubbed the Gucci Billionaire.

Ghaleb Alaumary, 37, of Mississauga in Ontario, Canada, was charged separately.

He pleaded guilty in 2020 to one count of conspiracy to engage in money laundering, prosecutors said.

He was sentenced to nearly 12 years in federal prison and was ordered to pay more than $30 million in restitution.
