The statue of Pocahontas in Gravesend, UK was erected in 1958 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of her death. The statue was a gift from the United States and was unveiled by the Governor of Virginia, where Pocahontas was born.
Gravesend was chosen as the location for the statue because it is believed to be the place where Pocahontas died in 1617. According to historical accounts, Pocahontas was returning to Virginia from England when she became ill and was taken ashore at Gravesend, where she died and was buried. The exact location of her burial is unknown. The statue of Pocahontas in Gravesend is one of several memorials to her in the UK.

Get Finding… Tonbridge!

Tonbridge Castle is a medieval castle located in the town of Tonbridge in Kent. It was built in the 13th century by Richard de Clare, also known as Earl of Gloucester as a defensive fortress to protect against invasions from France. The castle has undergone several changes over the centuries and was used as a private residence, a prison, and a military barracks. It is one of the best-preserved castles in Kent. It's now open to the public, providing an interesting glimpse into the history of Tonbridge and the surrounding area.

Get Finding… Tenterden!

Tenterden, located in Kent, England, has a long history of hop farming. Hops have been grown in the area since the 16th century and by the 19th century, Tenterden had become one of the largest hop-growing regions in England. The fertile soils and mild climate of the region made it an ideal place to grow hops, which are used to add bitterness and aroma to beer. The hop industry in Tenterden and the surrounding areas was at its peak in the late 19th and early 20th century, but it has since declined due to changing beer-drinking habits and disease. Today, while hop farming is still present in Tenterden, it's not as extensive as it was in the past.
