📅Sat 6 July

VIDEO RECORDING LINK - https://bit.ly/3VZj5o5

, this year is the 20th Anniversary of the The Booker Prizes shortlisted novel, CLOUD ATLAS.

Here is the recording of Jibunnessa Abdullah and Taner Kemirtlek in conversation with David Mitchell - Author on he many fascinating themes within this deeply layered, intricately philosophical book made up of 6 interconnected stories mainly told in the first person by interesting, often flawed, characters. It’s highly amusing, witty and very entertaining. His series of exciting adventures written in entirely unique voices immerse the reader in multiple worlds rich in detail stemming from history, music, politics, corporate greed, activism, human nature and dystopian visions of the future.

📅 Sat 13 July ⏰ 2pm BST

Please join me in conversation with the wonderfully talented Prof Saikat Majumdar - novelist, writer of non-fiction book, critic, and professor of English and creative writing at Ashoka University, India.

He regularly writes for the 'Telegraph', 'Times Higher Education', 'Outlook', 'Hindu', 'Hindustan Times', 'Scroll', and the 'Los Angeles Review of Books'. And his novels include: 'The Middle Finger', 'The Scent of God', 'The Firebird', 'Silverfish' and now 'Remains of The Body'. He's also written non-fiction books such as: 'Prose of the World' and 'College: Pathways of Possibility'. And co-edited 'The Critic as Amateur' (with Aarthi Vadde)

In REMAINS OF THE BODY, he uses sparse, yet a breathlessly poetic style, to explore the erotic limits of friendship and the disintegration of a marriage and how the two intertwine within the intimate relationship between three Indian immigrants living in North America.

"Avik floated in the pool. A gentle monster with secret coils of
energy. Unfurled, they could light a flame in the water." These are the very first sentences of the book superbly designed to stir the imagination and ignite longing and desire, as well as introduce the reader to a tightly packed, beautifully written piece of work.

Jibunnessa Abdullah (Founder & Director, Digital Museum) will be your host and presenter.

Please do register on Zoom and join the conversation!
