!! Two New Categories for CBFF2025 !!

We are already looking forward to, and starting preparations for, ! And we have some exciting news about next year’s festival. We are adding 2 brand new categories to our line up; Original Score and Music Video.

The introduction of the Original Score category is to recognise and celebrate those who compose the music specifically for film, helping to create the atmosphere for the audience, establishing emotions and changing the tone of the story throughout a film.

The Music Video category welcomes entries of music video with the strongest or most original concept; with remarkable ex*****on and interpretation of a song.

Overseeing both these additional categories will be our newest judge to join the team, Grammy nominated singer songwriter John Parr. During his career John has worked with countless icons of the music industry and has also diversified into film-making, writing and producing a variety of short films. His drama documentary ‘Unconquered’ was nominated at the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival 2023. We feel privileged to be able to add John’s name to the judging panel for our latest additions.

If you would like to submit your work into either of these two categories (or any of our others) please do so via our FilmFreeway platform, you can find further details and the link via our website,

is pleased to announce our chosen charity for this year’s festival, Neuroendocrine Cancer UK (NCUK) and we would like to thank Nick Pearce - Llanelli Town Mayor, for proposing NCUK and bringing this important subject to the attention of us all.

are dedicated to providing support, information and resources to anyone affected by neuroendocrine cancer.

A diagnosis of cancer is one of the greatest challenges anyone can face. Being diagnosed with a rare or uncommon cancer can have additional consequences, not least in terms of lack of awareness, delayed diagnosis and access to expertise.

Neuroendocrine Cancer UK exists to address the unmet needs voiced by the neuroendocrine cancer community, and to support patients and their loved ones with the physical and psychological burden of neuroendocrine cancers.

Their vision is of a world in which people know how to recognise, diagnose, treat, care for and ultimately cure patients with neuroendocrine cancer.
They support all those affected by neuroendocrine cancer by:

• supporting patients and their loved ones
• addressing public perceptions of neuroendocrine cancer through awareness and education work
• influencing optimal care through advocacy work.

You can find more information about them and the vital work they do through their website: www.neuroendocrinecancer.org.uk

Carmarthen Bay Film Festival CBFF - Gŵyl Ffilm Bae Caerfyrddin is delighted to announce that the Grammy nominated singer songwriter John Parr will be joining our festival judging panel, overseeing our brand new Movie Soundtrack category for CBFF2025.

John’s career to date has been a long and diverse one, taking off in the 1980’s when his legendary single ‘St Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion)’ became a number one hit worldwide. Best known for being the title track for Joel Schumacher’s classic 1985 ‘brat pack’ movie St Elmo’s Fire, the song was originally written as an anthem for wheelchair athlete Rick Hansen and his ‘Man in Motion’ journey around the world. John has written and performed title tracks and music for 15 Hollywood films, including ‘Three Men and a Baby’, ‘The Running Man’, ‘Near Dark’ and ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’.

During his career John has worked with countless icons of the music industry, touring with world renowned musicians such as Tina Turner, The Beach Boys and Heart, and selling over 10 million albums globally. As a songwriter he has written for various artists including Tom Jones, Meatloaf, The Monkees and The Who’s Roger Daltrey.

John is an ambassador for the United Service Organizations (USO), USA Cares and Military Families, and his album ‘The Mission’ was inspired by the sacrifices made by service men and women, with proceeds from this album going to military charities to help with the rehabilitation of troops.

Since diversifying into film-making John has written and produced a variety of short films, including ‘Road to Damascus’, produced with his business partner Chris Munro, and coming in the top ten at the Academy Awards for Best Live Action Short Film.

Most recently John has set up a new film division and its first production, a drama documentary titled ‘Unconquered’, told the story of the lives of two former soldiers injured in the line of duty. It went on to win 120 awards around the world, and was also nominated at the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival 2023.

Come along and meet John at this year’s festival in May and don’t forget that there is still time to submit your films before 29th February at https://filmfreeway.com/CarmarthenBayFilmFestival
