Mission statement
Our mission with Valley Knights Music is :-
1. To create a local platform for new bands and artists wanting to venture into the world of gigging. Between myself, other artists/bands, industry professionals nals, we will get new you gigging locally, building up a local fanbase with an aim of you going out
, prepared into town and city centres so you should not be taken advantage of. If you are an artist or in a band and are interested, read on..
2. To encourage more local venues/pubs/clubs etc to have a little more faith in original music. The audience is growing for local original music but it is not being accomadated. I know for a fact that with the right planning and promotion of nights with original music on the bill, we can get local venues rammed. Not only giving us and the bands a good night, but also putting money behind the bar for the venue owner. If you own a venue and would like to know how you could get involved, call John on 07905349373 or e-mail [email protected] for more info. Community
With experience and a well earned amount of respect from other artists/bands/venues in the area already, we have a great community building. The community of musicians is a great thing and is growing as more artists realise that music is community. It's an hour before the gig is due to start and your P.A desk decides to not work or your sound guy can't make it last minute. The gig is up sh*t creek. But if you help others, they will help you. Scratch a few backs and it will come back to you when you need it. Our Gigs
We aim to organise local and out-of-town gigs which will be a showcase of the artists who we are working with and developing, giving you a chance to show us and the crowd what you're made of. The main reason for these gigs is to develop performace, develop your fanbase and also to give you guys more experience in promoting yourselves and getting bodies through the door (which promotors and venues in towns and cities love. There will usually be a band or artist who are already well established in the area also on the line-up. This is for 2 reasons.
1. So we can get the already up-for-it new music audience to listen to your stuff.
2. Not just that.. The bands or artists we work with, have already been gigging on the local circuit and in the towns/cities for a while and have learned a lot whilst doing so.. Gigs are possibly the best place for you to network between bands/fans/promotors and more. The more experienced bands we have at these nights will be a mountain of knowledge which will no doubt be of great use to you. You could end up with support slots, playing to larger crowds or even organising your own gigs off the back of one of our events. Venues
Where there is nothing ventured, there is nothing gained. Working closely with the venues who are willing to give new music a chance, we will be hosting our nights in different venues when possible. Partly because we would like to remain independent of one venue, partly because we would like to get as many venues to see just how successful playing host to a night with great, new music can be a lot more rewarding than they alreay think. Don't Get Ripped Off
While working with you, we will be constantly giving tips and helping you prepare for tackling the live scene where nobody knows who you are. Armed with how to pack out a venue and promote a gig, being in a position to ask for [x] amount of money for gigging and not playing and being out of pocket or paying to play, the power is moving back into the artists hands. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Don't get me wrong, I know plenty of good promotors who care about music and also look after the artists, if the artists look after them. Trouble is, there is always someone out there wanting to earn a quick few quids for booking the venue and nothing else. Having a foresight of how things work in town and city centres will help you get yourselves playing in the right place, for the right people and not just where "It's cool to play". Scenes are all good and well but really, as a band, to make things actually work, why not organise your own gigs? Find other bands that will work on the same bill, book the venue and get someone to do sound for you. You can get the place full of all your fans and either make a bit of money towards the next one, towards recording, or just have a rammed out free gig that people talk about for time. Recording & Releasing music
I have already recorded as an artist and as part of a bandr in several studios with many producers/technicians and would love to see local artists recording their stuff and putting it out there. We will have our own Spotify playlist, SoundCloud page and also be pushing local online radio airplay as well as helping you get your music to a national platform via the many platforms available on digital on radio and online. If you like the sound of what Valley Knights Music aims to do.. If you are a new band or artist, an already established artist, a venue, or just someone with a passion for music and you want to get involved..
