Some thoughts on New Year’s Day, on a long drive back up North…

Lately, my feed has been full of well-meaning advice saying that if 2024 didn’t go to plan, you should ignore all the success story posts and focus on being kind to yourself.

And I totally get it - you should always prioritise being kind to yourself.

That’s non-negotiable.

But here’s why I think that advice might not be as helpful as it seems.

Sure, some success stories are just highlight reels with a hefty dose of filtered BS.

But if you look a little deeper, many are actually sharing the results of what happens when you work on yourself, take leaps of faith, and make scary, uncomfortable decisions.

They’re not there to make you feel rubbish - they’re there to show you what’s possible.

In fact, so many of my own successes have come from being inspired by someone else’s story.

Whether it was finding light in dark times, leaving a secure job, starting my business, or prioritising my health and fitness - those wins started because someone else showed me what could happen when you’re willing to ask yourself the hard questions, step out of your comfort zone and do the work.

So instead of shutting down or scrolling past, what if you paused and asked yourself, “What could I learn from this?” or “Why am I so triggered by this?”

Because here’s the thing I’ve learned - success isn’t about luck or perfection.

It’s about showing up for yourself in ways that work for you.

It’s about being willing to feel uncomfortable and investing in yourself, even when it feels scary.

And it’s about being willing to be really honest with yourself about what’s holding you back.

So my advice?

Be kind to yourself, yes - but don’t dismiss the inspiration around you.

Take what resonates, leave what doesn’t, and let it fuel your dreams for the life you want to create ❤️

And then get that out of office put on 🤩

So, in true practicing what I preach style...

⚡ Search for 'Instagram'
⚡ Connect your account
⚡ Your content will appear, and you can choose which reel you want
⚡ Right click on the video once it's in the design, and tap 'replace background'
⚡ Ta da you're done - and it's ready for you to download

This is so handy for repurposing content, and for getting a copy of a video you might have lost the original for.
