"When I took it out of the envelope last week I cracked it open just to read the first paragraph; when I next looked up, I was halfway through and late for teaching. In the best possible way, the experience of reading was like compulsively watching YouTube compilations of car accidents in the middle of the night. It dragged me through the full gamut of human emotion. I feel like I've read a lot of novels that put a handful of conflicting personalities in close quarters with external threat, but this is the only one i've read that fully fulfills the promise of that concept. It balances disgust with beauty, alienation with recognition, horror with comfort. She packs so much detail into such tight chapters, and paints entire portraits in a single brush stroke. It feels like this book has permanently altered my brain chemistry. It had connected with me on a level deeper than words. It makes me want to scream and cry and chew tinfoil.

In the face of division, hatred and senseless violence, we maintain our unwavering belief in community as the ultimate form of resistance.

Liverpool is our home and it’s been heartbreaking to see the damage wrought upon our neighbours who have done nothing but support and uplift the communities they’re a part of.Β Asylum Link is an organisation that provides support and services to asylum seekers and refugees in Merseyside, and in the wake of threats made against the wellbeing of their staff and those seeking their services, have been forced to close their doors.

Dead Ink Books has always sought to champion the voices of the unheard and we like to think we’ve built a community who feel much the sameβ€” so we’ve started a fundraiser to support Asylum Link, to champion the excellent work that they do, and to counteract the division attempted to have been spread between us.Β

Follow the link in our bio if you’d like to contribute to the fundraiser. Stay safe, stay kind, and look after each other.Β

An intimate, nostalgic, coming of age story about loss, q***rness and immigration, set against a backdrop of Brexit Britain and the era of gay bars playing nothing but Lady Gaga.

yeah but what if? what if you let yourself love recklessly? what if we succumbed to the fleetingness of summer? what then? what if you filled up your TBR with the incredible books we built our foundations on from the Dead Ink Archives? WHAT THEN??

For the entirety of August, enjoy 30% off some Dead Ink favourites direct from us. Treat yourself to some horror, or weird women, or crime, or poetry, or short storiesβ€” whatever you're after, we've got something along those lines. Specifically like a trainline, where the story derails halfway through, and takes you on some mad s**t.
