St Aiden's Regeneration project update: Over the past 3 days, the council team has planted 6 new fruit trees into the Old Orchard within St Aiden's park as part of the regeneration project. It has been distressing to the team to discover today that, within 24hrs of these trees having been left to stand as a new group in the Orchard, 2 of the trees have been willfully broken and potentially destroyed. The matter has been reported to the Police, and will be linked to the previous destruction of trees in the Old Orchard which took place a couple of months ago.

Anyone with any information regarding the damage to the trees is asked to please contact the Town Council offices on 01522 681537, where a voicemail can be left or alternatively to send an email to the Services Team Manager - [email protected]

The first two images below show how the new trees and their substantial tree guards were placed in the Old Orchard, and the latter two images show the terrible and deliberate damage caused to the young trees.
