Do you ever check your website and social media accounts from the view point of a prospective client?

Do all your links go to the right place? Or are there broken links and 404 errors on your website?

If you don't check this, you may have prospective clients coming to your site but then getting frustrated because they are clicking on broken links.

Recently I found out some links on my website were broken, I have no idea how many prospective clients this stopped booking a call with me. Because no prospective client is going to drop you an email to let them know that your website is difficult to navigate and your linktree on Instagram isn't working.

Do you find it difficult to post consistently on Social Media?
I do!

There are many reasons for this being busy with client work, being busy with life stuff and a few other things.

But posting consistently on social media has so many benefits.
1) You will be more visible
2) It will be easier for your ideal clients to find you
3) People will start recognising your posts and look forward to seeing your posts in their feed.
4) You can build trust and connections with people.
5) You can test what content resonates with your ideal client and share more of what does.
6) All important one is you can make sales and get clients

Also Social Media platforms like you to post content regularly and will show your content to more of your followers.

I am so grateful to live in the countryside. I love the peace and quiet. I love being surrounded by nature and seeing the change of the seasons. Seeing all the abundance in nature, whether that is brambles in the hedgerows or the swallows flying low over the field catching insects. I am definitely a country girl.

Content is all around us.

Saw this beautiful rose in the garden today while having my morning cup of tea and a good dose of fresh air and natural light before sitting at my laptop for the rest of the day.

I thought I would share it as it might make someone smile and brighten their day.

We are so lucky to have smart phones and apps like Canva for creating content quickly and easily. I remember years ago before Canva how slow and clunky some of the graphics apps were.

Did you know that if you are a registered charity you can get Canva pro for free?

Do you create content that converts to paying clients?

Years ago when I started my first business I set up a blog and back then this phrase "Content is King" was used alot. I think it still holds true but now there is so much social media content being created every day you need to create your own unique content to stand out from the crowd.

When you are creating content you need to realise that different pieces of content do different things and you shouldn't try to get one piece of content to do all the things.

For example sales content should be all about your offer and why your ideal client needs to buy your thing. The transformation they get, you will go from here (place you don't want to be) to there (the place you want to be). The value beyond the money.

Connection posts.
These are posts that get people to know, like and trust you and your business. These posts can be about sharing why you started your business or the fact that you sit in the garden first thing with a cup of tea. These type of posts are about showing your human side and helping build connection with your ideal client.

Making sure to do connection posts throughout the week will help your sales posts to convert better.

There are more types of posts, like this one which is a knowledge based post.

So when you are creating a content plan for social media you create different types of posts depending what you are wanting your followers to do or feel.

I love positive quotes. In fact I have lots of positive quotes on my wall in my office.

Years ago I used to share positive quotes daily on my Facebook and I have boards filled with quotes on my Pinterest account.

I also love Brene Brown quotes although none of the ones in my office are by her.

Do you network in Facebook groups where your ideal clients are?

Do you make it easy for people to find out about your business and go to your Facebook business page?

If someone writes an interesting post or offers some great advice in a Facebook group. I like to click on their profile to go find their Facebook Business Page to find out more about them and their business. However, quite a few people don't have a link to their business page on their profile.

You can make it even easier for people by editting your profile specifically for the group you are in. Just click on your profile pic when in a group and then the blue edit button, you have 150 characters you will only be able to link to you Business page if it is linked on your profile already.

You can also upload a header image. The header image and bio will be unique for that group and won't be seen in other groups and your personal profile won't change.

1st image is what my profile look liked in one of my own groups before editing my profile.

The 2nd image is after I have edited my profile for the group. Although I cut it off the screenshot my Facebook business page is linked at the bottom.

Tomorrow I will do a post showing you how to edit your profile in a group.

This simple action that not many people know about can help you be more visible.

To use AI or not use AI that is the question.

I don't use ChatGPT I don't use AI to generate any of my images and I don't use AI to write my social media content or come up with ideas for me.

Why?

Firstly if I am working with someone 1 to 1 they get all my knowledge about social media, content and business that I have acquired over 12 years of being in business. Added to that you also get my own lived experience of running a business and my analytical mind that is constantly ask will that tip work for everyone or just that business type etc. Or will we get better results if we do xyz instead?

If you ask me a question you don't want me going oh hang on let me just put that into ChatGPT.

Secondly, do you understand the risks of using free versions of AI like ChapGPT? I do not and at present I haven't got time to go down that rabbit hole.

Thirdly I recently read a short positive post on Facebook tagged as being created using AI. It was a pointless piece of content, it did not make me connect with the person who had posted it or show that person off as knowledgeable in their field.

I could go on and maybe you are using AI in your business and getting amazing results. But for the foreseeable future my social media accounts will be an AI free zone.

All of this post was written and created by a human being.

5 things about me.
1) I love animals and have a mad black labrador called Ollie. The first picture is Ollie practising his Wait so I could take a picture without him bouncing about. I swear he thinks he is Tigger.

2) As a child I loved All Creatures Great and Small and I wanted to be a vet. So I took Biology, Chemistry and Physics at A-level and AS level Maths. I didn't get good enough grades to study veterinary medicine so did Zoology at Liverpool University instead.

3) I am a scientist who also loves woo woo, see the crystals and range of books on my book shelf pictures. I read Bruce Lipton's Biology of Belief and it clicked that actually science and woo woo can go together. If I had not learnt about genetics in my degree that book would have been much harder to read and understand.

4) I love books. As a child they were my happy place and I wanted to live in a house with a library. My home has 4 big bookshelves but they are in different rooms so no library yet. If I have a problem I find a book to help. Son diagnosed with autism, read books on autism. Dealing with depression read books on alternative ways to deal with depression.

Need to learn to rest and relax more start reading fiction again.

5) For as long as I can remember I have been passionate about the environment and the natural world. Being in nature is my happy place nothing gives me greater joy than seeing a Barn Owl hunting over our grass field or hearing a buzzard call over head so high you can't see it. Recently Ollie has found 2 hedgehogs in the garden which makes me happy especially when we have so many slugs this year. Daily habits versus daily routines.
I have lots of daily habits many of which I am trying to change. I think of habits as being something negative that I do unconsciously, whereas I am trying to creating new positive morning routines.

Like having my cup of tea outside when the weather is good, having a healthy low carb breakfast to start the day and doing a daily hypnosis audio each day.

Also I have just been reminded of the Yoda quote.
"Do or do not. There is no try."

Several years ago I read the book Atomic Habits and I think I need to read it again to remind myself about habit stacking and things I can do to help re-enforce my new good habits.

Are you fed up of not seeing posts from your Facebook friends or pages you have liked?

Here are a couple of different ways to see posts from people and pages you have like:

1) Favourites
You can add friends and pages to your Favourites list in theory this means their posts will appear in your main feed. You can only have 30 people and pages in your Favourites list. To add people and pages click on like and choose Favourites as in 1st picture

2) Go to other feeds
Did you know there are separate feeds for Favourites, Friends, Groups and Pages?

On mobile click on your profile picture click on Feeds then choose the feed you want to look through. Pictures 2 & 3.

In 2012 I set up Social Media Lincs to fit around my children who were 8 & 9 at that point. For a large part of the last 12 years it has been part-time.

I was a single mum and wanted to be there for my children at school assemblies and during the 6 weeks holidays. My son was diagnosed with autism at 3.5 years so there were extra school meetings and all the other stuff that goes with having a child with Special Needs.

The other reason I started Social Media Lincs was that I loved Social Media and saw the potential for other small businesses to use it to connect with their ideal clients and other business owners. It was a brilliant resource for me living in rural Lincolnshire. I connected with people that I would have never been able to find in real life.

I remember being really excited in 2015 with the new live streaming apps Periscope and Meerkat being able to see live videos from anywhere in the world was amazing. And does anyone remember Blab?

A little bit about me. I live in the flat Fens of Lincolnshire, Wildmore Fen to be precise, and I love where I live. It is very rural and the WiFi is very slow compared to most places, which isn't great as I work from home.

I love where I live for the peace and quiet, the bird song and all the nature that surrounds my home.

The first picture is the view from my drive way, for those who are interested the crop growing in the field is oil seed rape, earlier in the year it was bright yellow.

The second picture is our grass field which will look different later today as the field is being cut for hay, let's hope the weather stays fine.

To make hay the grass is cut, the next day if the weather is sunny and warm the cut hay will be turned so the hay that was underneath can dry. Then the hay will be baled. The weather has to stay fine so the hay can be dry so that it will keep through the winter.

We used to make hay from the grass field for Mum's goats but we haven't done that for a number of years now and a local farmer makes hay and sells it.

Sat in the garden admiring my lawn mowing skills. This morning I mowed the lawn with the help of my son. Dad usually mows the lawns but he has been poorly this week. The weather of rain and sun meant the lawns were long and unruly. If it was down to me I would allow them all to be meadows like the other 4 acres.

The wildflower area is looking more wild than wildflowers. I grew some wildflowers from seeds this year but when I planted them out the slugs got them.

A few swallows are in the blue sky above me, when it is dusk there will be a couple of bats flying about.

I love living in the countryside it is my happy place especially when the sun is shining.

Do you want to get more clients via social media?

But you find it difficult to post consistently and you secretly hate social media.
