We’ve spent the last few days with our friends from shooting some short films on farm across Ireland.

Great hospitality, the weather held (mostly), welcomed a newborn calf and saw some stunning scenery.

All good things come to an end though. Time to pack up the van and make the long journey back!

We’ve been working closely with on several workshops in the run up to our animated film ‘A Likely Story’ being projected in Newark.

Recently we worked with Christ Church CofE Primary School and their students to create Victorian cyanotype prints of some of the film’s main characters, including Harriet and Emily Blagg, founder of Newark’s Palace Theatre. The children got their hands on our ‘camera museum’ and discovered how photography has changed in its almost 200-year history.

‘A Likely Story’ will be projected on Newark town hall, Friday 1st November from 5:30pm - 9:00pm, we can’t wait to see you all there.

We are already at that start of October and Black History Month.

In 2022 we made three short films for projection as part of Gainsborough's Illuminate festival. Each of these films explored an unknown story from the region's past.

We explored the story of Carlos Trower, a funambulist whose skilled performances of tightrope walking drew crowds across the UK and Lincolnshire in the 1900s. Trower was commonly known as the ‘African Blondin' after the renowned tightrope walker Charles Blondin.

The local community got involved too, with children from Ingham Primary School voicing some of the characters.

At Electric Egg we love sharing our passion for history through film. In 2022 we created large-scale animated projections as part of Gainsborough's Illuminate festival. Each of our three films traced an unknown story from the region's past.

In X24, we looked at Gainsborough's contribution to the war effort in the Second World War and the secret (or as it turns out, not so secret) construction of the X24 Midget Submarine now housed in the National Museum of the Royal Navy. 80 years ago today in 1944, X24 successfully attacked the docks in Bergen, Norway, causing disruption to enemy shipping.

As part of the project we involved the local community, with local school children at White's Wood Academy, creating the film's credit sequence and helping us with the voiceover narration.

On this Emergency Services day we want to pay tribute to the people of the East Midlands Ambulance Service, Lincolnshire Police & the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance who work tirelessly to look after people across our region. Over the last few years we have been lucky enough work with them all on a number of video and photography projects to support recruitment, training and communications.

Turning our lens on the people who dedicate their professional lives to helping people in our communities is always a rewarding and inspiring experience.

Thanks for all you do.

We had the pleasure of working with to create films that highlight their course offerings in their new multi-million pound facility (complete with a full scale airliner!), offering world class training for the air and space industry.

As part of this project, we created four individual course films which focused on Flight, Engineering, Travel & Tourism and Computing. In this project, use of stabilised rigs, tracks and drone (outdoor and indoor) has created short, dynamic films that showcase the range of skills you can learn through your studies and the fantastic facilities on offer.

On the beat with PC Mark Barr of Lincolnshire Police.

This is just a small part of a huge and comprehensive project for . We were commissioned to produce documentaries, promotional films and photography to support their recruitment strategy across their service.

The most rewarding part of this project was working with a variety of Police officers and staff to capture them in their roles and the passion they have for serving the people of Lincolnshire. Our cold winter day with PC Mark Barr around Grantham was just one of many days on this project, which also saw us go diving with the underwater search team, training with armed response and the police dogs and so much more.

Communicating the value of any academic research project requires universities and academics to consider the stories they are telling about the impact of their endeavour's. Arresting photographic imagery can help to tell these stories, enabling researchers and organisations to effectively promote and disseminate their work.

Electric Egg have vast experience in illustrating research and research activity through photography to tell these stories and also to promote the facilities and expertise of those that conduct the work.

Behind the scenes from a shoot in April with Sciensus in Nottingham.

The production was to promote the use of the Sciensus Intouch app to Sciensus customers to enable them to manage their medication and health conditions.

Working with actors and hired locations these two shoots for both stills and video required particularly thorough care and planning to ensure we effectively communicated the benefits of this app for patients which allows them to manage their healthcare, order medication and track their wellbeing.

We have worked closely with Sciensus for a number of years and continue to do so with more productions in the pipeline.

A few years back we worked with Amberol UK to produce some promotional photography and film. We love the visual opportunities that working in industrial spaces provides.

On this shoot we utilised a lot of coloured flash to bring Amberol’s branding into the images.

Character development is an important part of the animation work we do.

This image's shows the journey that the character Arthur Stanley, from our film 'The Age of Wonder', took from initial concept through to realised design. It’s not just the look of the character that’s important but considering how they move as well.

We have had the pleasure of profiling in a series of short documentaries, some of the amazing people who serve communities and protect the public in Lincolnshire as part of Lincolnshire Police. Over the years we’ve toured the UK visiting the productions sites of our friends

Whilst they do make some pretty tasty food, instead our focus is often on Greencore’s people, capturing the jobs that they do and taking portraits of colleagues at work.

We’ve always found this challenging and interesting and you never fail to learn something!

It's Book Lovers' Day today!

In 2015, we were approached by to illustrate The Penguin Lessons, Tom Michell’s memoir of living with a penguin in a boys' boarding school. The book recounts the story of how the penguin, Juan Salvador, won the hearts of everyone he met.

As well as creating the cover and internal illustrations we were also commissioned to make an animated book trailer featuring a reading by BAFTA winning actor Bill Nighy.

One from the archives. A few years ago we partnered with our friends at to create resources to spread awareness around the issue of Hate Crime. This was a rewarding project, using animation to build on real testimony and bringing an important topic to the fore in a creative way.

Super proud of our very own Steven Hatton.

Have you noticed the newest addition to the Hockney Gallery @ Cartwright Hall?

New to the Hockney Gallery, Cartwright Hall is this photographic print from Steven Hatton.

Steven Hatton, award-winning photographer, filmmaker and co-founder of the film production company Electric Egg has generously donated this photograph to Bradford District Museums and Galleries collection in appreciation of the times he spent visiting as a child and as a student in the city.

This photograph was taken during the private view of Hockney’s Eye: The Art and Technology of Depiction at the Fitzwilliam Museum in 2022 -shortly before David Hockney’s 85th birthday. During the shoot, the artist and the photographer reminisced about growing up and sharing the same primary school in Eccleshill, Bradford - the image went on to be used by The Guardian on 6 July 2022.
