Final preparations for Lincolnshire town's flower parade

Final preparations are being put in place for this year's Spalding Flower Parade.

The Lincolnshire town will see dozens of floral floats drive through the town on Saturday.

More than a million tulips have being picked by an army of volunteers to decorate the displays.

Skegness: Five held on suspicion of attempted murder

Lincolnshire Police said officers responded to reports of a man being hit with a metal pole on Roman Bank shortly after 22:00 BST on 1 May.

The victim, a man in his 30s, sustained potentially life-changing injuries in the attack, the force said.

Brayford Pool: Man's body found in early hours in Lincoln

Lincolnshire Police said it was alerted to a man in the water close to the flyover bridge at 00:40 BST.

Officers retrieved the man's body from the water with help from fire service colleagues but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man who "tortured" his friend after falsely accusing him of stealing his computer has been jailed for a minimum of 20 years.

Father-of-six Tony McDermott, 38, was stabbed 51 times by Nicholas Ward at their Grantham home in October 2023.

Norwich: Eaton Park parking charge proposals criticised

Norwich City Council is looking at charging £2 for up to four hours at Eaton Park.

Lib Dem councillor Judith Lubbock said the plans were "unfair" for residents.

But Helen Mitchell, chair of the Friends of Eaton Park, has backed the plans, arguing people should be discouraged from driving to the park.

Great Yarmouth: Experts rethink WW2 bomb disposal strategy

The bomb was found on Southtown Road, Great Yarmouth at about 11:30 GMT on Tuesday.
A controlled explosion was due to be carried out later.

The Army's Explosion Ordnance Device (EOD) team are now reassessing the risk after it was found the blast could affect two gas main pipes.

Great Yarmouth Marina Centre rebuild has boosted town - council

The Marina Centre, owned by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, reopened in August after closing down in October 2019.

Since its opening it has attracted 150,000 visitors, Sheila Oxtoby, from the council, said.

"We have seen almost a 15% increase [in footfall] compared to 2019," she added.

East Anglia pylons: Energy minister faces critics in Essex

A government minister has said plans for a new 112-mile (180km) power line of pylons in East Anglia were "not inevitable".

Energy and Climate Minister Graham Stuart was visiting Essex to answer concerns about the project from councillors and green campaigners.

Battery recycling: New scheme introduced in parts of Norfolk

People living in West Norfolk, North Norfolk and Breckland can now recycle their batteries from home.

The items are now being collected with weekly waste collections in all three areas of the county.

All you have to do is place them in a clear plastic bag - like a freezer bag - and leave them on top of your waste or recycling bin.

Prince William visits floods of 1953 exhibition in Snettisham

Prince William arrived unannounced at the Memorial Hall in Snettisham, Norfolk, on Sunday for an exhibition.

Hundreds died and 30,000 people had to leave their homes in parts of Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk after water surged from the North Sea on 31 January 1953.
