Next up, August Ortega

August Ortega is an English author with a multitude of ambitions, versed in a variety of problem-solving disciplines pertaining to creativity, such as business, science and engineering, and music. He has produced an array of different genre-fiction pieces in magical-realism, fantasy, and sci-fi, and contained in the anthology Monstera, is one of his more technical pieces titled Untold. Through this piece, he hopes, the vulnerability of the ego in the real world might be exposed and discussed.

Kate Armitage is a copywriter by day and creative writer by night until someone will let her write fiction for a living. She is a published novelist and other more recent publications include flash fiction in Ellipsis and Reflex. Kate is finishing up a degree in creative writing in Lincoln where she lives with her husband, two kids, cat, and snake. ⁣

Next up, Allie Warwick⁣

Allie Warwick is an aspiring writer from a small town in the outskirts of Nottingham. She specialises in fantasy fiction, with an emphasis on various mythologies from around the globe. Allie is a future YA author in the making, with more than five drafts being worked on at any time. She can be found daydreaming about being a pirate alongside Kiera Knightly and Orlando Bloom or playing frisbee with her five dogs. Although she treats her dogs like her own children, she most definitely has a favourite, but don’t tell the others! ⁣

Meet the Poets in 'Monstera'.

Next up, Hazyn Forsythe

Hazyn Forsythe (she/they) is a poet and creative whose work centres around mental health and the sapphic and q***r experience. They study Creative Writing at the University of Lincoln and plan to complete their MA next. Although new to the public eye, she has already been published on The Abandoned Playground. Hazyn is currently working on several poetry projects including exhibition, printed collection, and online experimentation. Experiences influence their work, and this had led to their pieces being an open, honest communication about life. She hopes that her work will help people understand both themselves and others.

Regan Jones is a writer born in the heart of Lincoln where he now studies Creative Writing at University. His stories typically revolve around the complexity of morality and exploring the depths of the human mind. His preferred genres of writing are typically science fiction and fantasy, and he also has an affinity for working in transmedia storytelling⁣

Next up, Rhyia Clark⁣

Rhyia Clark is a British travel writer and poet, who was raised on the coast of Spain. The first video poem (‘Bricks in Plastic Bags’) from her four-part series, surrounding mental health, (‘Elements’) will be in the Suttungur Festival in Iceland. Rhyia is working on her first novel, ‘Abroad at First Sight’, which she aims to publish after graduating from her creative writing degree in Lincoln. It tells the true story of her and her partner’s adventures through three continents. Together they also work as travel influencers – promoting hotels and travel brands on their social media.⁣

Next up, Jo Major⁣

Joanne Major is from Scunthorpe but now lives with her husband and dogs in a village to the south of Lincoln. After a career in production planning, and a few years as a stay-at-home mum, she began to focus on a long-held ambition: writing. Always one to do things back-to-front, Joanne co-authored several non-fiction books before beginning a Creative Writing BA at the University of Lincoln. Her first solo venture, a biography of Kitty Fisher, will be published in October 2022. She is now embracing the worlds of fiction and poetry and seeing where that leads.⁣

Next up, Samuel Phillips⁣

Samuel Phillips, born in Grimsby, is an avid writer and enjoyer of all things fantastical. His creative mind led him to study writing at the University of Lincoln, where he learned to specialise in writing in the horror, comedy, and fantasy genres. Samuel enjoys spending his time procrastinating and has become quite skilled at it. but to what end? And why? I am not quite sure – and neither, it seems, is he.⁣

‘I enjoy writing pieces about people with quirky/odd personalities, so ‘The Two of Us’ served to satiate that itch within myself. I wanted to have a go at writing a story about two characters who were bound together in some way, so I took that initial idea and ran with it’.

Next up, Lily-Maria Madden.

Lily Madden is a twenty-year-old writer living in Liverpool, UK. Typically, she writes thriller novels that juggle sensitive topics, and carry strong messages. Currently, she is studying Creative Writing at the University of Lincoln; soon to finish and move on, with hopes of writing a novel. In order to stay on her feet, she is also a part-time barista, where she indulges in endless amounts of coffee to fuel her caffeine addiction. In her spare time, Lily enjoys reading thriller novels and bodybuilding. Typically, she spends her 5am starts in the gym, her afternoons doing ‘adult things’, and her evenings in bed with a good book and a cuddle from her fur babies.

Meet the Authors in 'Monstera'.

Next up, Meg Moran.

Megan Moran is a twenty-one-year-old writer, born in West Yorkshire, Leeds. Her love for language began from an early age, that led to her studying an undergraduate’s degree in Creative writing at the University of Lincoln during 2019. Moran’s contributions to the darker side of literature and psychological thriller genre as a whole, vary from entries of emotive poetry to longer pieces of prose. She is currently working on her first novel which she hopes to be completed by the new year, and in her spare time, she enjoys country walks nearby to the village she lives in.

‘Man’ is a tale that explores the fragility of men’s mental health as they navigate through adolescence. Behind the fictional story lies a question that makes everyone question where their morality lies.
