Announcing the new Director of Veteran: Mossy Christian

A MESSAGE FROM OUTGOING DIRECTOR KATIE HOWSON

As you probably know, since the death of John Howson, the founder of the Veteran recording label and mail order business two years ago, I have been keeping the mail order service ticking over.
After John’s death I started discussing the future of Veteran with Mossy Christian, who already runs his own label One Row Records and was actually working with John on a couple of projects which were unfinished when John died.

I am now very pleased to tell you that Mossy is taking over the Veteran label and mail order service. I am delighted to know that John’s legacy in safe hands and believe that Mossy has the energy, the knowledge and the vision to develop the label into the future.

The Veteran website has just been relaunched and you will soon be able to buy Veteran albums and downloads again from the new site. You can reach Mossy on the email address [email protected]

Although I shan't be running Veteran I will still be around performing, writing and giving talks about related subjects!

A MESSAGE FROM MOSSY CHRISTIAN

I’m sure many of you will know me already, but for those who don’t, allow me to introduce myself. Born and raised in Lincolnshire, I usually describe myself as a musician, singer, dance caller, educator and facilitator.

As well as all this, I’ve run my own label One Row Records since 2019, founded to ‘record, release and promote the very best in English traditional music’. Since its inception there have been several full album releases, including the ‘500’ series re-issuing lost gems from the folk revival, and this year a book written by Megan Wisdom Music on the Suffolk portion of Veteran founder John Howson’s collection.

I am very pleased to be taking the helm at Veteran, after working with both Katie and John over the past few years. Over this time I have become acquainted with both the catalogue and material of the label, as well as the ethos behind it - something which I will be proud to carry forward. There are plans afoot for several new releases on the Veteran label, as well as re-issues of some of the back catalogue.

The new Veteran website and the existing One Row Records site are currently operational in a limited capacity following a complete rebuilding, but should be fully functional very soon. My first priority as Director is to make the existing catalogue of CDs, books and downloads available once again, and I will update you all when this has been realised.

In the meantime, please accept my warmest wishes for the winter festivities, and I hope I shall see you all at the Veteran stall at an event or festival in the near future.
