The year 2024 is coming to an end...

This year has been a year of war - long, hard, full of loss and uncertainty. But despite all the trials, we kept the most important thing: faith, hope and determination to continue fighting for the future of our country.
Looking back, we, the volunteer organisation ‘Ukrainian Hearts’, sum up the results of another difficult but full of achievements year.

This year, despite our personal difficulties in adapting to a new country, was a time when we were able to benefit our fellow citizens:
- We organised events for the second anniversary of the war, including a commemorative procession to honour all those who suffered in the struggle.
- We helped to purchase necessary equipment for the Kharkiv Children's Hospital.
- We organised a charity fair in order to help the children's ward of the Lviv hospital.
- We organised the collection of funds, clothes and necessities for the affected residents of Kiev after the rocket attack on 6 February .
- We celebrated Ukraine's Independence Day by organising festive events.
- Together with the local Depot cinema organised a Ukrainian evening.
- We prepared a great Christmas Ceilidh in Rigmer and collected gifts for children treated at Chernihiv Hospital.

We sincerely thank everyone who has been with us on this difficult journey.
Your support, help and faith inspired us to move forward even when it seemed that we had no more strength. You are our support and source of inspiration.🙏🏻

The year 2024 was a reminder to us that every day we can do a little more than yesterday. We believe that love and unity are our strongest amulets.
May 2025 be a year of victory!🇺🇦

Merry Christmas to you and your family ✨✨✨✨
A few weeks before Christmas, the Ukrainian Hearts volunteer organisation in Lewes announced a collection of gifts for children being treated in the haematology department of the Chernihiv Regional Children's Hospital in Ukraine.
Thanks to your incredible support, we were able to send over 100 gifts to Ukraine, weighing a total of 44 kilos! Each one was lovingly wrapped and personally signed for the child. ❤️
Thank you so much for your participation! Your care and warmth brought joy to children who are bravely fighting cancer.
Special thanks to Evum for their invaluable help and kindness.
Thank you to all of you! You make the world a kinder and brighter place!!!💛

💔💔💔 While the whole world is ablaze with Christmas lights, buildings and cars are falling down in the centre of Kiev, and windows of shops and cafes are shattered.

The Russians have attacked Ukraine with ballistic missiles. The deadly missiles hit people in the middle of the street. Toronto's business centre and St. Mikolaj's Roman Catholic Church were damaged. At least ten people were injured.

In one neighbourhood, the heating system was damaged: residences, clinics and educational institutions were left without light and heat. Hundreds of children started their winter holidays a day early because their schools either had windows smashed out or a casualty aid station destroyed.

Today's shelling is a searing reminder of Russia's inhuman face, because just yesterday dictator Putin was saying it was "interesting" to shell Kiev.

The whole world must realise that Russia must be stopped and made to answer for its atrocities.

Ukrainian ‘Shchedryk’ conquers the fashion world and can be heard in the Chanel adverts!
The iconic Ukrainian song ‘Shchedryk’, written by the genius Mykola Leontovych, was performed in the holiday campaign of the world-famous Chanel brand.

Shchedryk’ is a symbol of hope, resilience and holiness, which brings the light of Ukrainian culture far beyond the borders of our country. The melody, created in the native land, today sounds in the most remote corners of the world, reminding of its deep roots.
And yet, despite being recognised worldwide, the city where this immortal masterpiece was born was destroyed by war.
Let the Ukrainian ‘Shchedryk’ sound more alive now than ever - alive for the whole world, constantly reminding us of Ukraine's uniqueness and resilience.

🕯️🌾 Holodomor - a silence, what to say is better for words

💔 Today Ukraine shakes its head in grief for millions of innocent souls who became victims of a terrible atrocity against our people - the Holodomor.

‼️ The Holodomor is a warning to the world that evil, which was left uncharted, will always return. Today's day is a proof of...

The system of Russia has not changed, but we are stronger, and our strong will will will not let it destroy us! ✊

🕯️❤️‍🩹 About 16:00 light a candle of remembrance on the sign of shani to the innocently killed.

With a small prayer we will honour those whose lives were cut short by the totalitarian Radyan regime. 🥺🙏

Don't let the fire of remembrance burn in our hearts forever.... ❤️‍🩹

Today is one of the darkest dates for Ukrainians: 1,000 days of war.

During this time, the country has experienced more than 2,500 missile and drone attacks - an unprecedented figure for Europe in the last decade.
Just think: 1,700 kamikaze drones and nearly 800 cruise missiles..

Despite this, our armed forces cleared 42.52 thousand square kilometres of territory.

Losses on the Russian side totalled 722,000 people.

Meanwhile, 67,098 km² of Ukrainian land remains occupied after 24 November 2022.

According to the UN, 11,743 civilians have been killed and 24,614 wounded in these 1,000 days.
These are 1,000 days of pain, loss, hope and relentless struggle.

Eternal glory to the fallen heroes.

Our respect and prayers to those who defend our homeland. And support Ukraine and Ukrainians.

Today, 19 October, at 17:00 on the bridge in the centre of Lewes, we will gather to commemorate those who have been taken forever by this war. Join the action, light a candle and together we will remember all those whose lives have been changed by this tragedy.🕯️

This evening will remain in our hearts forever! You allowed us to feel the warmth and cosiness of our native home. Magical Ukrainian music, exquisite authentic cuisine and the company of people close to us created an atmosphere of love and sincerity. Huge thanks to the representatives of Depot Cinema for the hospitality and care that made this event truly special. Thank you for the idea and invitation - it was a feast of the soul!

❗️За week Russians have struck our various regions with more than 900 bombs, launched about 30 missiles and almost 500 "shaheds" - Zelensky.

All these strikes would not have been possible if we had sufficient support from the world in obvious things. In range for the sake of security. In truly effective sanctions that would prevent Russia from importing critical components to make drones and missiles.
