Happy international women’s day! I’m very fortunate to be surrounded by so many wonderful women in and out of business, each strong and excellent with unique talents and values and I appreciate them all dearly!

Since I started Serrano Media, I’ve found that there are so many incredible ladies that may even work in the same industry as me but still support and advocate for me, and rather than view me as “competition” they’ve put me in touch with people they know or we’ve created meaningful collaborations. They’re selfless and smart women that want to help others thrive and I’m very thankful!

Yesterday I threw an - admitidly wonky - pot at the The Midlands Business Network!

What an incredible activity to feature at a stand, I’ve always wanted to try my hand at throwing and it was just as fun as I imagined it would be.

Cathy at Alsters Kelley Solicitors Limited was a fantastic guide and a huge shout out to the Alsters team for cheering the people on that were giving it a go and for being so encouraging. 🙏🏼

Another MBN that was just fantastic! It was great making new connections and seeing some familiar faces too. Amazing work Beth & Julie.

Okay but how? Here's 3 top tips:

📅 Regular posting - this doesn't have to be every day! You can post weekly to increase your chances of popping up on people's timelines and show yourself as present.

🌟 Consistent branding - do your posts represent your brand? Are they consistent with brand identity and tone of voice? And is your visual identity consistent throughout all of your digital marketing? Website, emails & ads included.

📚 Pay attention to content types - don't just sell, sell, sell! No one wants that. Instead, scatter promotional posts in between content that is interesting, fun or effortless to consume.

How are you connecting with your audience? This image got me thinking... Are you being as personable online as you are in real life?

We have a tendancy to want to write to the masses when we put things up on social media, but that's not how it should be. Why wouldn't we speak to your audience like we would a human being? Connect authentically online by speaking to your audience like people, not numbers. Engage, respond and share stories that resonate to build real relationships, not just transactions.

I’ve been silent… too silent. 🤫

Coming back to work this year I’ve just thrown myself in, no time for socials - which pretty bad considering I work in the social media space. 😅 But I’m focusing on my clients first and finding the time to pull a plan together just isn’t happening. It’ll come. Just know that I’ve not dropped off the face of the earth, I’m planning 💭

Anywho, here’s a really cutsie photo from Been Networking that Pictoria Victoria snuck. I hope to be sharing my face a bit more on socials this year and change up my approach. It’s always good to show the person behind the brand.

2023, what a year! 🤩 This year has been full of achievements and excitement.

I became a business owner and set out on my exciting journey with Serrano Media - I can’t believe it’s been 6 months already! 🌶️

I’ve learnt to navigate my way around the world of small businesses through networking at places like The Midlands Business Network. Thanks to Beth & Julie, I’ve been able to create some true connections and meet so many amazing and supportive people!

I’ve designed 4 new brands that I’m thoroughly proud of for some amazing companies and organisations! 😍

Helped raise money for Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer with Wonky Candles.

Joined the Federation of Small Businesses - FSB and met some fab people in and around Derbyshire due to Networking at Been Coffee.

The best part about all of this is, I’m still learning and growing and I’m watching other around me do the same which is ever inspiring.

Well done 2023, here’s to us all thriving in 2024 as well! 🥂🎉

📢 New brand alert! 📢 Been Networking is on the scene!

Designing this brand identity was a treat for me, I enjoyed the project thoroughly. Being an attendee of Been Networking, I knew just what to do. Ian saw my passion and just let me run with it. For this identity, I wanted to convey just how warm and inviting it is, Been Networking offers a comfortable networking environment whether you're a new-comer or a regular for businesses of all industries supporting businesses in and around Derby. ☕

So what's going on here? 🤔

This is a brand card, an image I pull together to display a full brand identity, enabling it to be both looked at and felt. It consists of primary & secondary logos, as well as subarks and logo marks accompanied by brand colours, shapes and other assets - like patterns and illustrations that will be associated with the brand.

Rather than looking at a logo on its own out of context, it provides a full brand experience so that you can see how your brand will look and feel going forward. I can't wait to pull together some social media assets so that more people can experience this cosy, coffee event and say that they've Been Networking 😍 ☕

International Men's Day is a great opportunity to address the stigma around men not showing their feelings. Let's throw this stigma out of the window, it's okay to open up and seek help when needed.

There's no shame in talking, sharing emotions, supporting each other and creating safe spaces so let's make it a standard practice. 💚

It's true! Marketing is a long-term strategy that doesn't always have immediate results, it's there to raise awareness of your brand, get your message out and nuture potential prospects so that they know where you are when searching for a solution provider. Marketing is not Sales 💁‍♀️

🌿 When it comes to work your wellbeing should be the priority, by both yourself and your employer - after all, it's where you spend most of your time. 🌿

I've found myself in positions before where I've been unhappy at work and attempted resolutions to no avail, so I've gone on to find my next venture.

As an employer, it is your responsibility to take care of your staff and ensure their happiness within their job, which means providing a positive work environment and changing where necessary. As an idividual, it's your responsibilty to make changes where necessary also, in the interest of your own wellbeing. It's not always easy, but it's worth it. 😊

So, two questions:
✅ Are you - as an individual - happy in your job?
✅ Are you - as an employer - doing the utmost to keep your staff happy?

Statistics show that the happier the employee, the more productive they are, so it should be in everyone's interest to strive for positive wellbeing. Plus, don't we all just want to be happy? 😊

It's Social Media Kindness Day and I want to talk about the importance of spreading kindness online. As someone who works with social media management, I see both the good and the bad that can happen on the internet.

It's easy for things to get negative and hurtful, but taking a moment to be kind to someone can make a world of difference. Put yourself in the shoes of the person on the receiving end of your comment or action and ask yourself how it would make you feel, if it would make you feel good, great!

Remember, a little kindness goes a long way. Let's make the internet a brighter and more positive place for everyone

Extend some branding with me! It's been fantastic working with Veronica at Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer to extend their brand from a single logo to multiple variants - that can be used in a number of locations, with one to fit every scenario.

LFBC already had their primary logo and a mark, but we've added two new logos to the mix and defined each logo type to help with use going forward as well as adding in white versions for use on pink or purple backgrounds.

The secondary logo was created to mimic the primary logo but make it a bit more space-friendly. It maintains the elements of the primary logo however, by adding the mark on top of the text rather than to the side, we enable it to automatically fit into spots that the primary logo cannot.

The submark was created as an even more space-friendly version of the main logo, wrapping the text tightly around the mark to add the charity name in for context and not letting the mark stand alone, this makes it compact but identifiable for people seeing the logo for the first time.

Each logo type will fit in different environments and now that Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer have extended, it broadens their use of them providing them with more opportunities. This year has gone so quickly! I swear they get quicker the older I get... This month I'm aiming to spend more time focusing on the business (as well as my fantastic clients). I'm setting new goals and making a plan for what the new year looks like, 2024 is coming around so fast and I'm aiming to start on the right foot.

It’s #RabbitAwarenessWeek so here’s a short video of Binx patiently waiting for a slice of banana 😂🍌 Rabbits are a lot more clever than people give them credit for, Binx certainly has us wrapped round her tiny paw and when it comes to welfare, their smarts aren’t the only thing people underestimate. Rabbits need a lot of space to run and jump, not just a hutch or a small run in the garden; the minimum space a rabbit should have access to is at least 10ft x 6ft x 3ft. When we rescued Binx, it was because she was kept in a hutch, she’s living the dream now and I want that to be the same for all rabbits. They should all be living the dream. 🐰 #RabbitWelfare #AnimalWelfare #Bunnies
