👉 The Internet never forgets. This is why, as a business or individual, it is essential to have a plan in case of a social media mishap. You cannot just erase what happened, take back what an employee did or said, or delete what was posted, even if you would love to erase every moment and memory from your brain.
You may not think it could happen to you, nor to your company, but sometimes one misworded or misconstrued statement can create a social media crisis that spirals completely out of control. 🌪
One of two things can happen: you can either manage it immediately and take control of it, (and maybe even grow from it as a business), or you can try and cover it up and possibly destroy your business as the internet vigilantes come out to play, and believe me they will.
Here's some quick DO's and DON'Ts if ever this situation may arise for you and your business.
👉 Don't try and cover it up. Don't pretend it didn't happen. If you do, the internet will come at you in droves. They will send their friends, and their friends and friends and every person who looks for social media drama will be on your page creating more... DRAMA!
👉 If it is warranted - apologise, apologise immediately. Make sure this apology is genuine.
👉 If you are unsure whether an apology is warranted, but there is definite internet hype surrounding the incident, make a statement saying: "We're looking into it". Always acknowledge an incident if there is a growing internet discussion going on about it.
👉Once you have all of the facts, create a blanket response with truthful information about the event that you can cut and paste into any comment section. Always respond with objective and truthful facts. BS attracts people most to a social media crisis. It is essential not to engage those who are trolling for a fight on purpose. Responding with fact

⏳ First all we had was 15 seconds… then 60. Then 3 minutes.
🧲 Now, TikTok has expanded its maximum video length to 10 minutes, 40x its initial limit!! The app is actively now challenging YouTube with longer-form content.
🎶 Is TikTok still a short-form video platform? It seems less and less so, since 10 minute uploads will be give their users the ability to provide long form content to their viewers.
🧨 TikTok has been testing ever-longer uploads for years, recently introducing three-minute videos last July, but this latest update is the largest increase yet, and will now roll out globally.
It will be fascinating to watch as Tik Tok starts creeping into You Tube's territory and how it will effectively shake up that space!

💃 Check all your social media accounts daily. This will allow you to reply to any comments or questions customers may have; share and thank people for any great reviews and; respond to and if necessary remove anything negative as quickly as possible to prevent brand damage.
🕺 Don’t be a spammer. Yes, following loads of Twitter and Instagram accounts will get you followers but it may also make you look like a Spam account. No one needs to follow thousands of people on either platform, have a regular cut and keep it to a few quality accounts.
💃 Be social. It’s called social media because you have to be social! Interact with people, reply to comments on Facebook, say how much you like people’s Instagram photos and start conversations!
