The National Library of China is home to around ten book restoring specialists, who work tirelessly to restore and preserve the three million ancient books and manuscripts that live there.

The time-consuming process can involve repairing damage to the documents, re-binding them, and sourcing the correct materials to ensure that the books are restored to as close to their original condition as possible.

🌟 Production services case study 🌟

Marlene Hauser commissioned Indie-Go to redraft a cover for a previously published book. Marlene advised our designer that she wanted the book to sit alongside books you might see on the ‘New York Times’ bestsellers list and listed ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ as an example of a cover she liked.

The cover our designer came up with uses several elements popular in contemporary fiction covers at the moment: a bold sans serif title, a dominant author name and a provocative image.

🌟 Marketing services case study 🌟

Good cover copy is essential in helping your book stand out to retailers and readers, but authors are often too close to their writing to create concise and engaging copy. We were very pleased to be commissioned to write the blurb for Maria Bucci’s picture book, ‘Hound on a Scrounge’:

Meet Buddy. Buddy is a doggy and he’d very much like to be your friend. How would you like to come under the table on a scrounge with him? But wait! First, you can’t be human. You have to be a doggy like him. Do you think you can? Don’t worry, Buddy will show you how and then you can eat an afternoon tea together. Well…kind of!

Join Buddy under the table as he takes you under his wing (or paw) and teaches you how to love the British tradition of a yummy afternoon tea! A fun, interactive story for 3–6-year-olds, ‘Hound on a Scrounge’ also includes a brief history lesson on how afternoon tea came to be – the true version as Buddy sees it! Don’t miss this ulti-mutt-ly charming story that will have everyone’s tails wagging!

The blurb went through one round of revisions, before the author approved it, commenting ‘I love it! Thank you ever so much!’

Helping authors publish

For an independent author to stand out in a crowded market, your book or ebook not only has to be well written, but it must be fault-free, well-presented and properly marketed. Most authors who are self-publishing realise they don't possess all the skills needed to successfully edit, design and market their book or ebook… which is where Indie-Go can help.

Indie-Go offers a range of editorial, cover design, text layout, file formatting, ebook and marketing services to authors publishing independently on platforms like Amazon KDP and Ingram Spark, and who need assistance with some elements of the publishing process. We do not offer a self-publishing service, but provide a range of publishing services to assist you in areas you feel you need help.

Indie-Go is part of Troubador Publishing Ltd, a team of 25 specialist publishing staff based in the UK. All Indie-Go services are carried out by these experienced publishing professionals, enabling indie authors to choose those services they need at a fair cost for quality work.
