Rekindle (rekindle.ink) is a free web app that runs inside the Kindle Scribe’s built-in browser and adds extra functionality without hacking or jailbreaking. It gives the Scribe a simple dashboard with tools like a calendar, tasks, weather and reference apps, all designed to work within the limits of E Ink. It doesn’t turn the Kindle Scribe into an iPad, but it does give the Scribe more capabilities, and it costs nothing to try!

I’ve realised something about how I use my iPhone and iPad.

I don’t really organise my apps.

Hardly any folders.

No carefully colour-coded home screens.

And only one regularly used focus mode: Sleep.

When I want an app, I just swipe down and search. Every single time.

It’s quicker than remembering where I put it.

Some people have beautifully organised setups.

Others go full chaos.

How do you do yours?

The new Kindle Scribe range is now on sale in the US, including the updated Kindle Scribe (with or without front light) and the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. They feature a redesigned 11-inch body, improved writing feel, and major software upgrades, with the Colorsoft adding Kaleido 3 colour E-Ink for highlights and annotations.

Amazon’s (.com) website now says the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and BW Kindle Scribe will be getting released on December 10th, 2025.

Many people comment on my YouTube reviews of E-Ink tablets with the same line: “Just get a tablet.” As if an iPad or similar device is automatically a better choice than a Kindle Scribe, reMarkable or any other E-Ink reader or note-taker. It’s not that simple. E-Ink and traditional tablets are built for different jobs, and treating them as interchangeable completely misses the point.
