Craig Atkinson is an Australian who has had called Tokyo home for seven years now. He lives in a quiet inner city suburb with his wife and two kids. He writes in the early hours of the morning to the sounds of the milk and paper deliverers. Moving around, and living in different places has been a constant in his life, and often creeps into his writing.

Under the Summer Sun is a story set in rural France and a snapshot of lived experience. It is a meditation on travel and an exploration of how we interpret 'home.' Craig's prose is relaxed and insightful.

The first publication in the 5th Phase of Analog Submission Press chapbooks is ‘Yamanote Loop’ by Marc Brüseke (thats me!). ‘Yamanote Loop’ is a photo-sketch in 46 parts. What the heck is a photo-sketch? And what is a ‘Yamanote Loop’?

Photo-sketching is a literary device that I’ve has been developing for several years. I could tell you about the theoretics of it all, of how it fuses poststructural semiotics with Japanese poetics to create literary moments of memory driven ‘satori’, but that’s rather convoluted and dry. So I’ll keep it simple by saying, 'the aim of photo-sketching is to transform photographs into short poems. To render a personal photograph as words.' In this case, 46 of them. The Yamanote line is a looping intercity train line in central Tokyo. All 46 photo-sketches take place within this loop.

Marc Brüseke is a writer and small press publisher from Cape Town, South Africa. As an author he has published nine chapbooks of poetry and prose, the novel Get it Back to Give it Away, and the book length poem, The Arrival of Dr. K: A Poem and Manifesto in Five Parts. As a publisher he has helped edit into existence over 150 publications by some of the most recognisable and exciting writers from the contemporary literary underground. He lives in the city of Leeds, England.

Good morning from the land of the rising sun! I’m over in Japan, Tokyo to Mt Fuji to Takayama to Kyoto and back, and so my posts have been a bit non existent of late, perhaps my email correspondence too. I’ll be back in the UK in about a week with a bunch of new chapbook announcements. A world of inspiration has been building.

Here are the first 25 single author chapbook publications in Analog Submission Press’ phase 2.0 roll out. Phase 1.0 was all about sugar fuelled fruit coloured covers. With phase 1.5 I briefly experimented with high gloss and silk cover stock. Phase 2.0 is all about high contrast anaemic mono. So much great verse between those covers. Words from some of the best writers in the contemporary literary underground.
