***Poppy Appeal Update***

Thank you to the Larne Tech Old Boys Club for their £170 donation from running 2 events to raise funds for the 2023 Poppy Appeal.

Total now stands at £21,621.29. Final few invoices this total runs now upto the 30th September 2024.

Larne Poppy Appeal volunteers. Just to make you aware, the private WhatsApp has been deleted for this year 2023 as under GDPR regulations. We can't hold details without permission. The private WhatsApp group will be re-created next year in 2024 for which ever volunteer wishes to assist the RBL Branch Poppy Appeal in Larne.

The Royal British Legion Larne Poppy Appeal raised £21,451.29 this year - up by £4,004 from 2022.

****Larne Poppy Appeal ****

The count is done and the figures are in, we are sitting at £21,131.29 up from last year by £4004.43, there are still outstanding invoices and donations to come in and our total for this year takes that into account.

Our contactless is £1834. That is a £414 increase from last year.

This is the 4th year we have increased the amount raised.

I can't thank all of our volunteers, the community for supporting Larne's Poppy Appeal 2023.

Today is the last day to order or collect and pay for wreaths, these can be done in Murrayfields today.

Any wreaths left over after 16:00 will be in the legion to be collected on Remembrance Sunday

NO wreaths will be made on Remembrance Sunday.

The Royal British Legion’s 2023 Poppy Appeal launches today and sees the introduction of our new plastic-free poppy ♻️

Made entirely from paper, the plastic-free poppy is available alongside stock of the existing poppy to reduce waste, and can be recycled in ordinary paper recycling collections.

Since its emergence as a symbol of Remembrance after the First World War, poppies have taken on various shapes and sizes.

From handmade silk and cotton poppies to wartime poppies, 2023 sees the biggest change in the poppy’s design for a generation.

Wearing your poppy shows you care, and helps the Royal British Legion raise vital funds to support the Armed Forces community all year round.

If you're free and want to come down I'll be there for an hour or so.

All 13 school packs are now delivered into 7 schools, Linn Road, Moyle, Larne High, Larne & Inver, Glynn, OlderFleet and Carncastle.

Over 135 poppy boxes have gone out to our local community business in Larne. Which is an increase from last year by 20.

Thank you to my amazing volunteer's. I'm taking a well earned 4 days off myself after nearly my 6-8 months into the planning for this year's Poppy Appeal.

Thank you to everyone today who assisted in delivering this year's Poppy boxes around Larne. It was great to see so many faces and the help, especially wee Zachary the Youngest poppy volunteer. He was buzzing.

Only a few places left to deliver too. School packs are going out from Monday.

Then we go live the following Monday, look out for some amazing changes, new badges and a lot of new volunteers.

Thanks to everyone who turned up on Friday 13th for their 1 on 1 contactless training.

For any poppy appeal volunteers. I will be holding contactless training in the legion on Friday 13th October 2023 at 18:00 to 19:00..if free pop along, if not then it will be on the job training when the appeal goes live.

Also please remember to meet at Murrayfields on Saturday 14th October to deliver everything in the town. More the merrier. It should only take approx 1.5 hrs.

Poppy boxes delivered so far are 48 out of 170 on the outers of Larne. So only 122 to go!!!!

Thank you once again to all Larne's Volunteer's this year, considering we are a small wee town compared to other area's of Northern Ireland we have the largest amount of Volunteer's. I can't thank all the Volunteer's enough for their service. It doesn't go unrecognised.
