The Power Slam Yearbook 1995 Part Two is now available. It includes Issues 13-18 of Power Slam — originally published between July and December 1995 — and a new four-page introduction written in September 2024 that delves deep into the events of June-December 1995 in pro wrestling which was a strange and frequently irritating time to follow the industry: https://insidetheropesmagazine.com/products/power-slam-yearbook-1995-part-2

Triple H was the cover star of Issue 207 of Power Slam back in October 2011. He had beaten CM Punk at Night Of Champions the previous month in their big one on one encounter.

What did you think at the time of The Game defeating Punk when most people thought Punk should have went over? Did it matter? Should Hunter have done the job?

In Issue 99 of Power Slam In October 2002, Anthony Evans wrote about Matt and Jeff Hardy’s future as singles stars.

What did you rate Matt and Jeff’s chances of long term solo success back then?

Thirty years ago this month, Hulk Hogan was the cover star and interview in Issue 2 of Power Slam in September 1994.

PS editor Findlay Martin remarked to Kenny McIntosh on their Power Slam Overrun podcast earlier this year that in the chat for Issue 2, Hogan seemed to have his wits about him and was fairly honest and candid. Hogan would go on to become a compulsive liar in modern day interviews. What’s your favourite Hogan lie from his media interviews?

Twenty fours years ago this month, in the September 2000 issue of Power Slam, Steve Ciaccirelli penned the “Bigger Than Wrestling?” article on The Rock.

Did you think Rock would become the Hollywood juggernaut he ended up being when he was in WWF in 2000?

While having a sort out over the weekend, I found this black and white print-out of the cover of Issue 211 of Power Slam, featuring Sheamus’ one and only appearance on the cover of PS.

Issue 211 was a weak issue, unfortunately, that sold poorly by the standards of 2012.

As you can see from the biro show-through, I was using both sides of pieces of paper by February 2012 in order to save money.

I realise I’m marking my own homework here, but I thought the cover of this month’s issue of ITR Magazine (which is on sale everywhere now) looked really rather good.

The timing of the meeting between the Mayor of London and Paul Levesque and Nick Khan regarding WrestleMania in London was unfortunate, given the answer to a question on that very subject I wrote in the latest issue of ITR Magazine.

If the offer is huge, WWE will find a way to make WrestleMania in London work. As usual, it all comes down to the size of the bid that is put forward. Many cities are in the running to lock down ’Mania every year.

It will be 10 years tomorrow since the final issue of Power Slam went on sale: Issue 237 of PS, featuring John Cena on the cover, hit newsagents’ shelves on July 17, 2014.

In my farewell to the readers in that last issue of the magazine, I announced that Pro Wrestling Through The Power Slam Years would be my first post-magazine project. How naive I was to imagine in July 2014 that I would complete this encyclopedic tome by November 2014. It actually took until September 2015 to compose the 240,000+ words that comprised PWTTPSY. Of course it did.

Many people have asked me over the last eight-and-a-half years if I would ever publish the Power Slam Years in print. It is something I have been considering for some time. Before I do so, however, I would like to extend and update parts of PWTTPSY. Much has happened since September 2015, obviously.

Ten years on from the closure of PS seems like an opportune time to announce that I will be starting work on the extended and updated version of The Power Slam Years later this year (September, most likely), with a view to publishing the revised version, both in print and as an eBook, next year. Learning from experience, I am not going to set myself an unrealistic deadline for the completion of this project.

Been there. Never again.
