Personal Meditation:
Solomon relates in this book his deep reflection on life's many questions and was deeply troubled, in that everything that he labored for and over are all but vanity. What is the point of it all?
Scripture: Ecclesiastes chapter 1
"Vanity of vanities, all is vanity. One generation passes away and another generation comes, but the earth abides forever.
and how dieth the wise man? As the fool."
3 Nuggets of Wisdom: Chapter 1
1. Man's life is a cycle. "The thing that has been, it is that which shall be. And that which is done is that which shall be done. And there is no new thing under the sun." (v9)
2. The earth operates in a cycle. "The wind goes toward the south and turns about unto the north. It whirls about continually and the wind returns again according to his circuits." (v 6-7).
3. That both wisdom and folly are both vexation of spirit. (v17)
SOLOMON says: Vanity of vanities, ALL is vanity.
Personal Reflection:
Once I worked in a nursing home. I have come to know aged people whose younger selves marked popularity, affluence and influence. Yet, during my interaction with them, no one knew much about them, no one so much cared about them as to see them and visit them, no one asked what they used to do and what they were like in the past. No one really cared that much.
This got me into remembering the book of Ecclesiastes. How it illustrates what life is about and it's PURPOSE- What is the point of it all?
The book of Ecclesiastes is composed of 12 chapters. I would urge you my dear friends to read this book chapter by chapter as this will help you understand life as it is, and your purpose as it should be sought and desired.
God bless us all!
