And it’s a wrap! Honoured to perform between and ! Last show of the summer 2024 Soom T tour, different line up, great team of kids on stage to sing and dance .
Out of sight - the phenomenal .tintin on FOH and ever solid Nina our TM.

Thank you brilliant audience and in Lausanne for the awesome hospitality and professionalism.
Could do it all again, 4 times a week, until the sun goes and the snow falls! 🙏🏽❤️

At the young age of 80 years (!) Max Romeo’s voice is as uplifting as ever, supported by a fantastic team of tight French players & singers.
Managed to get my 7” of ‘if them ever’ signed 🙏🏽
In the spotless show, ‘War in a Babylon’ seemed very poignant but also positive.
Other killer songs were ‘Wha you ago tell Jah Say’ , ‘three blind mice’ , ‘valley of Jehosephat’ and of course ‘Chase the Devil’ as bought to a generation of ravers by bought the house down.

Reminding us of the roots of reggae, Max hit us up with Byron Lee’s The Ska Kings ‘Jamaican Ska’
- now there’s a story: The Skatalites were supporting the show last night (Vin Gordon being a surviving member).
In 1964 Edward Seaga had sent The Ska Kings to rep Jamaica at the NYC Worlds Fair, post independence, despite The Skatalites being more in favour at the time at home. However it’s noted that The Ska Kings, while not with the recorded output, were a popular live band, plus they never got paid for the gig anyway.. I digress…

Auckland showed it has what it takes last Friday! First up was songstress Queen Rubi Du in the booth with multi talented producer and Dj Christoph El Truento deftly switching roots, digi and Rubadub, live mixing out vocals and guest Israel Starr accompanying. The crowd was friendly, the venue dark and welcoming, the pace just right for a long night. Next up at Cassette Nine , Benny Page kept it positive 👍🏽 despite telling me his luggage had been lost on the way to NZ 😳. Delivering his blend of jump up jungle with reggae chops meets quick switching ‘drills and hoover massive synth presets’, the crowd lapped it up in the bright open venue. The back room was emptier but the Dj was playing some great Liquid dnb on the heavy system in there. Support as ever from the solid * SUNSHINE SOUND SYSTEM * NEW ZEALAND * aka Downtown Brown. It was time to try and get back up the big hill and go to Denham Audio who produces some great garage 2 step influenced electronic music, sometimes quite tropical, but my kegs had danced the last dance and I headed back to check his latest releases and collaborations on bandcamp. Don’t call me a quitter! The only thing lacking was a decent night bus service in Auckland - cmon AT - sort it out!! 🚌🚏🚌🚏🚌🚏🚌🚏🚌🤪🤪
