A partnership has been struck between GE Healthcare and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) improve cancer diagnosis at Basingstoke and Wi******er hospitals.

The 10-year partnership covers 120 pieces of radiology equipment including MRIs and CT scanners, command centre, and an Oncology Cockpit to speed up cancer diagnosis.

A new parliament report shows that the UK is falling behind comparable countries for cancer survival rates as just two of 107 NHS areas met cancer wait time targets in January.

A new liver cancer treatment is being pioneered in the UK that has found to be effective in nearly 90% of patients.

The treatment isolates the organ and protects healthy parts of the body by using two small balloons that divert blood around the liver whilst drugs are being administered.

The technique called chemosaturation allows doctors to deliver much larger doses of drugs than previous treatments.

In a study published in JAMA Dermatology researchers predict that global rates of melanoma will increase by 40% by the time we reach 2040.

Melanoma accounts for approximately one in five skin cancers. This increase could be a huge issue for oncology services as long appointment wait times are already being experienced by cancer patients.

The number of cancer research projects fell by 33% in the UK during the first year of the pandemic and due to the slow recovery the country is experiencing, could fall even further.

A person in the UK is set to receive what doctors are calling a 'cancer vaccine' in what could be a a monumental breakthrough in cancer research.

The treatment is essentially a training programme for the body to get it to recognize and defend itself from the patient's specific cancers. If successful, it could be the beginning of a new age of DNA related cancer treatment.
