The Met Office have issued an amber weather warning for snow covering the whole of Cumbria , which comes into effect tonight from around 9pm, until Sunday evening.

If motorists must travel, the advice is:
• Please plan ahead for any journeys today, allowing for extra time.
• Take extra care and, where possible, please use main roads which have been treated.
• Drive slowly and with extra care and attention.
• Please ensure that you have provisions such as water, snacks, blankets, and a charged mobile phone with you.
• Please allow vulnerable road users including cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians more room than usual.

❗ Visitors and residents are advised to stay away from the fells in advance of the affected times to keep you and mountain rescue volunteers safe. ❗

- Electricity North West can be contacted on 105 for power cuts, but please only call if your query is urgent to help prioritise customers in the most vulnerable circumstances. For more information, please visit www.enwl.co.uk.

- Problems with the roads in Cumberland can be reported to Cumberland Council via the council's website https://orlo.uk/VUdAB or, in an emergency, on the Highway's Hotline on 0300 373 3736.
- For Westmorland and Furness, report highways emergencies that require immediate attention to the authority’s Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3306. For less serious issues, complete the highways online reporting form found at https://orlo.uk/xkXTG

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us as volunteer presenters at Bay Trust Radio, using our studios in Kendal and our new studio opening soon in Lancaster.
Or if you prefer you can do it from home all you need is broadband, laptop/PC, USB microphone and a pair of headphones!
Maybe you just want to work behind the scenes no worries you can still be apart of te team.

Weather Warning: Heavy Snow Likely to Cause Disruption on New Year’s Day
The Met Office has issued a warning for heavy and persistent snow starting at 9 AM on New Year’s Day (Wednesday) and continuing until 3 AM on Thursday, 2nd January.
What to Expect:
Power and Communication: A small chance of power outages and disruptions to mobile phone coverage.
Rural Areas: Some rural communities may become isolated due to the snow.
Travel Disruptions: Expect delays on roads, with the possibility of stranded vehicles and passengers. Rail and air travel may also experience delays or cancellations.
